Kurt Angle is a 14-time professional wrestling world champion, with titles collected in WWE, TNA, and Japan. He is in both the WWE and TNA/Impact Hall of Fames, a two-time NCAA Division 1 National Champion, and has also won a gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Summer Games with, as he likes to say, ‘a broken freaking neck.’ At every stop in his career, Angle has reached the top of the mountain, and now he’s taking his Three I’s; Intensity, Intelligence, and Integrity, to the podcast world as he joins host Paul Bromwell to take a look back at some of the matches, feuds and moments that turned an Olympic gold medalist into one of the greatest sports entertainers of all time. It’s True. It’s damn true

It'll most likely NEVER happen but I'd love just to see a "Darkside of the ring" esque episode and have it JUST being about the different perspectives about this one particular Royal Rumble- Angle, Edge, Ref Jimmy Korderas, Jerry Brisco, Teddy Long and Eric Bischoff and anyone else recalling from their own perspective what was happening and it lead up to McMahon storming out..... No matter how many times the story gets told and by whom it still gets only funnier.

I really need to know batista or cena perspective of the moment. I hope one day one of them tells what happened that night

What cruel competition the McMahon-Helmsleys have. HHH: I tore my quads. Vince: Yea, well, Pal, I tore both at the same time. And still called the finish of the Rumble. HHH: I finished EACH match I was in when they happened, live, didn't call an audible, and stuck to the finish YOU booked. Vince: Well, well...I'm Vince McMahon dammit!

@Tom Mac He happily put him over many times. He chose him. According to Bruce Pritchard, there was a discussion with HHH of three potential names Vince had in mind for the WM20 main event: Cena, Eddie, and Benoit. HHH was not on board with Cena at all. But loved the idea of elevating Eddie and Benoit. He thought he could work Benoit even better because of the contrasts in their characters. There's a lot of similarities between Eddie and HHH being honest about their villainous ways. But Benoit is 100% hardnose, straight shooter, babyface all the way. So he thought there was more depth to tell lots of stories with him. Then they ask HBK for a second opinion. He agrees with HHH. So Vince decides to go with Eddie and Chris for the WM20 main events. And just to add another wrinkle, throw HBK in there too with Benoit making that first ever triple threat title match. As a bonus, HHH still got his wish to work with Eddie in a title match the week after WM on draft day. Shame it was a one off. And he wished down the road he got an opportunity to do some extended stuff with him. But we know how Eddie's story ends, sadly. I feel like if Eddie lived and ended up somehow being an Untouchable Smackdown guy (a la Undertaker) and remained there in 08, once HHH finally got that "You're so good at being bad we like you now" turn, they probably would've worked a program together. But I think it would've been cool seeing 2005 heel Eddie still around in 2008, facing babyface HHH in 08. I know they were trying hard to make Edge top heel, but he and Orton weren't doing for me. They felt like cheap copies of aspects of HHH'S character. Eddie, Benoit, HHH felt more committed and genuine in their respective roles.

Why such a crazy schedule. Vince can give wrestlers just a little more time for rest. Long term this could prevent many injuries and burnouts.

Well,they could've done a storyline on raw or smackdown were Dave put up his wrestlemania match against cena and put cena over the next night.I dont get why this was an issue if Dave would've won the rumble?just had him put up his wrestlemania title shot

Vince probably could've saved both of his quads if he hadn't thrown an absolute fit and had just let the double elimination botch be the finish and turn it into a storyline. They had only done the double elimination once before in '94 with Bret Hart and Lex Luger, so it wasn't an overused Rumble finish. So they could've just let it happen, played up how historic the double elimination was, and turned it into an angle with a Cena/Batista #1 contender's match at the next PPV before Mania. No one would've known any better.
@francescotonini6268

Was the double elimination in 94 planned?
@glennwelsh9784
@glennwelsh9784 Год назад
@@francescotonini6268 Yes, the '94 double elimination was planned. It was essentially Vince's way to test who would be better as the company's new top guy in the wake of Hulk Hogan's departure - the "Hogan 2.0" bodybuilder saddled with a patriotic gimmick (Lex) or the fan-favorite workhorse (Bret).

Baring in mind Cena and Batista were both being booked to win each of the world titles at mania it would have been so simple to just say yeah draw.. both guys get a title match on their respective shows like they are going to anyway. Typical WWE making things so complicated
