I watched this many times when I was a kid. I have always liked this movie and I think it's pretty well done. This is sci-fi at its peak. Another thing that makes this movie special is that it has Gary Busey in it and we all know that any movie with Gary Busey in it is a movie with Gary Busey in it.

This movie is actually a masterpiece. It's has a deeper theme. Like Starship Troopers or Robocop. It's about a man coming to terms with his Trauma. I feel the little boy represents Todd's inner child. He fathers the boy and so fathers himself by encouraging him to face his greatest fear, the Snake. He is accepted by the people of the Colony and is brought into the family. He is Mothered by Sandra, but he can't handle this new acceptance and Caring. He has no purpose. The Bad Guys show up and he now has something good to fight for. He kills the cause of his Trauma and his past actions are Absolved. He can now move on as a man and a father. Looking out the Window to his future with the boy at his side.

I feel personally attacked because I love this movie. Got the DVD and everything.

I love that he received awards named after his previous movie characters. Not Just Capt Ron, but Plisskin and McCready.

This is one of those movies i kept in the VCR for days at a time and never got bored. Almost no one I talk to about it knows it though, which sucks cuz this really is an awesome action gem.

I can only assume the people behind this movie saw Russels performance as a stoic ex-elite-soldier in Escape from New York and decided to test his abilities by giving him a role as a stoic ex-elite-soldier who reacts to nothing with any kind of expression. This was baaaaad - and it rightfully bombed. Saw it multiple times back in the day on TV and i was bewildered every time. The best thing is the leader of the genetically modified supersoldiers: So how do we test them? Send them against those civilians who crashlanded years ago on this trash depot planet and can't put up any resistance. Yeah, that will show how good they are. I assume before this they raided a kindergarten but their boss was not sure if that really shows they are ready for a fight. So he chose a slightly more dangerous target.
