Dropped you a like. I'll be watching this many times over the next few days to try and learn the kata. I just started Shukokai so I've got no idea if I'll encounter this kata but I like the look of it and want to learn.
@raysmith5639 well thanks for watching. I do hope it helps. Please note this is my version of this kata ie not the goju version. But yes, if you do shotokan you will notice bassai dai, kanku dai and a few others. All broken down the same way. Good luck on your journey.
@Greg Griffiths thank you for 1. Watching and 2. Commenting. Check out other kata on this page. Anything in the "mechanics" folder is a total breakdown. Don't forget to subscribe 😁
Hi James nice Kata you do in the video, just a quick note I’ve been studying Goju Ryu Kata since 1988 and have seen this Kata performed many ways depending on the association you are training with and if you want to do a way that suits your association that’s not a problem, just have fun doing Kata take care Michael
I have analyzed neko ashi dachi for a long time now, over a decade, and I think it is the MOST VIOLENT move in Goju Ryu. It is an incredible maiming move.
@@tadashiryukaratedo4484 there are no 'stances' in karate. Neko-ashi dachi is used to signify moving your center of gravity back and low, and it can be used as a trip, a throw, easy access to a knee or kick, a tomoe nage, a general pull assisted by your own bodyweight, and some other stuff. It is not a static position - nothing in kata is static, everything is dynamic. People who don't understand that can't actually apply kata properly. Looking at your other videos, it seems like the main thing lacking in your bunkai is proper footwork, which is exactly what I've feared, despite your understanding of upper body mechanics, and that in end of itself makes a great deal of your applications completely impractical. All of this comes from a misunderstanding that is sadly incredibly common within post-1900s karate. If you want historical evidence of what I'm saying, it is to be found within Karate - My Art, by Motobu Choki. Other masters have writings regarding this matter too(Funakoshi being the most notable one, with the well-known saying "Karate has many stances; it also has none").
@@draco8738 hello. Without getting in to a debate because I just aren't. The thing which we use to stand ie feet and legs will always be referred to as a "stance". To touch on (again I wont be debating this) the bunkai, I teach is so that a student can better understand the kata or move they are doing. I totally understand that karate is a constant movement, but also please understand that my videos are for learning purposes and something I tell the students is that I only put the most basic ideas on this channel, I keep the rest of my ideas for the students of Tadashi. I thank you for your comment. But I wont be showing all I know and teach on this channel, only the simple stuff.😁
Thank you. I do hope you arent putting your gold medal down to my videos 😜. I do hope they helped but remember that it's your training , dedication and attitude that got you what you clearly deserve. Thank you for your comment and great job on the gold. 👏👍
@@BIRDYCODYT your welcome. If there is anything else I can help with dont hesitate to call me or find me on fb @james Davey. If you would like some video training and correcting from me I'm sure we can work something out.
Thank you so much for this video Sir!! Really helped me touch some areas in my kata! Do you mind if I send you a video of me doing it? I would really appreciate it if you could assess it and correct were correction is needed.
Wow... thank you. Of course you can send me a vid of your kata and I will give feedback. Not sure how you would send it. If you want to send it via Facebook you can find me @james Davey. My icon is a beard.
Thank you. This is a variation of what I know, what i have seen plus my own bits. All Tadashi is this way. I thank you for watching. And i thank you for you comment. Glad its helped. If it helps to improve 1 thing then it's all worth it.
