Sounds good but I prefer the actual k2000 over these newer models - they sound soo bright

How do you feel between the kronos and pc3 now?

@@biggrime Owned the kronos 9+ years and it is so vast that the time to conquer it is a lot. I replaced the solid state drive from the 62gig to 500gig. After all these years and bought several add-ons for it feel it is a lot more than I need. Yes, the sounds are anything you could imagine but the kurzweil is incredibly intense with V.A.S.T and I can do the same with it and as deep as it is don't get as lost programming. Really missed pc-3 76 after I sold it years ago and had some truly one of kind keyboard samples cp-70, cp-80 were really unique. I gave the kronos 88 to a close friend to take it on and told him it has a 1200 page parameter guild so bone up! When it comes to composing music don't want to get bogged down doing more programming than actual playing. That happened too much for myself because always wanted to come up with sounds no one has heard. In the end kurzweil is an excellent balance of quality, playability, programmability and value(imho).

Hi, I had the same impression after I played on a Kronos the first time. But that was after I bought my PC3. It´s just a "no K" version. They are the same, just with or without the ability to load samples. And it´s my first Kurzweil ever after 30 years with Korg and Yamaha. It changed my way of hearing. On first glance many sounds seem to miss treble, but now I think they don´t. They seem to be standard and boring, but they just sound kind of more natural and usually fit into a mix without any further tweaking. It´s so well balanced without any exciting earcandy on first glance. Kind of hard to realize after so many years with pushed sounds. Often critisized, the "old, dull pianosound" has some deepness that I don´t experience with the other machines. Programmingwise it´s the most complex machine I ever owned and I am still happy with it. The only thing I would like to have is the K version, but can´t afford it right now. Buying a synth without checking the keys before is a risk I also took - same problem here, no instruments available in my area. I have the synth key action and it´s different from the Motifs or Korgs. But I like it, it has a kind of soft lower stop and can be played pianostyle and fast also as a synth should do. Somehow gives me a better feel. After adapting to the layout and controls I think it is much better designed for live performance than any other synth I owned. It´s kind of hard to say, but the whole package has some differnt kind of spirit behind it. It´s more like a convenient professional tool but a product that wants to "impress the masses." If you understand what it´s about and you want it, get it.

***** Thanks, I found it. I was messing around a little & tweaking the effects. The PC3K has a really HUGE (seems like there are 100's of FX) & awesome FX section that sounds great. It's too bad the PC3K has no "Input". My god, that would be awesome! I love the effects on my Triton & Kronos X. I often plug my vintage synths into the Korg's input & use their effects. (Korg really does have great FX). PC3K's FX are amazing too & every bit as good, but again, lack of an input is a bummer. :-( The only other complaint I have with the PC3K, is that is has only 2 velocity layers, whereas the Triton & Motif have 4 & Kronos has 8. But that doesn't really seem to matter, as much as one might think. IMO, the PC3K seems less like a MUSIC workstation, & more like a SOUND workstation. VAST seems to give you almost unprecedented control & creativity, over the individual samples, sounds, layers, programs, FX, filters, etc. The PC3K's acoustic pianos are not in the same league as the Kronos, but no ROM based system can compete with a streaming, solid state drive. But the PC3K's piano has a unique sound & character all it's own. Well, that's all for now. I might have a few more questions later, but I like to mess around & try & figure things out for myself. PS: Do you know of any sites that have free, PC3, PC3K, K2500, etc, samples/programs, I can load on my PC3K? I Googled it & found a few, but I want more, especially electronic & digital sounds, analog synths, pads, etc.

Yes... some time ago the owner of the site has rearranged everything, gave it a newer and professional look and content. The forum itself was placed differently, but still exists, but the link is not correct any more. However, you have to sign in to become a member (free) and then you should be able to find this and much more. It´s worth it.

+karl ricardo Errr... sorry, I still don´t understand - what "piano"? Thats a pad-sound. In case you mean the key I play in: It´s E minor with some fancy note voicings, all improvisation.

Uhm, the 361 has no USB drive, just a slot for memorycards. But you can connect it to a Computer, there it will autmatically make a "virtual drive", where you can put suff in and load it then. It is explained in the manual.

@@Kaffimusic my PC3k has 2 USB slots already. The „but“ is here to get a proper algorithm which button should be Putten in which mode (song, storage, master or Midi etc.). In my opinion that monster won’t follow me…

@@user-cr2gj8kw4e Take a USB stick with your Kurzweil-Data. No packed data, naturally. Put it into the 3k. Press "Storage". Navigate though the stuff to the file you want to load. Press "select". Press "OK". Answer the question where to you want to load. Execute. Done.

@@Kaffimusic Thank you, of course. But it is not so. Why, because if you have selected a certain timbre or instrument that you need to record, it disappears immediately if you press the STORAGE button. If you go the other way: press SONG, then the stupid METRONOME turns on immediately, which cannot be turned off or changed in tempo, then EVENT appears on the display with a certain numbering that does not allow you to systematize anything, and I tried many times to record there, but then find these EVENTS weren't possible…It’s a huge problem, isn’t it so?

@@user-cr2gj8kw4e I gues I understand... You want toe RECORD to the USB stick? Not possible. It does not record audio, just store or load data for the machine. You can save sequences/songs, but also - just as a Kurz data-file, not as an audiofile. NoGo.

Y depende de lo que necesitas, si los presets decfabrica son suficientes para ti, el LE está perfecto, entre otras cosas el PC3k8 es una bestia que pesa 25 kg.
