I recently purchased the Kurzweil PX1000 as it was a staple in Kitaro's music and was very intrigued by the Choir sounds in many of Kitaro's music and Live Concert. The Kurzweil K250 was also heavily used in the early days of his career and having the Kurzweil PX1000, was as close as having a Kurzeril K250.
The Choir sounds was what I was looking for. Hearing and playing it live is a different feeling. Though the Choir sounded thin, it sits very nicely in a mix without heaviness with it's slightly grainy timbre. The String sounds on the PX1000 were pretty good too. Overall, the PX1000 has a very dated, low resolution sound and it is not perfect but gives a very analog and natural feel overall.
Also, I was loaned a Behringer VC340 by my good buddy who was featured in the recent videos: 'Caravansary' and 'Space Queen' jamming session. The VC340 overall emulates the Roland VP330 very well. The 'Ensemble' mode was amazing and transformed the sound totally into something very thick and luscious. The Vocoder function was what interest me too. In this demo, it looks like I got very close to duplicating Kitaro's Cosmic Love on the vocoder. Overall, it is a great synth to have but it has limited sounds. With extra space and a budget, it is something I would get myself.
