Glad you have found something to make your life just a little bit easier. For what you have got to go through in your day to day life and still come out of it being positive is amazing. It's great you are also trying to help other people. I have been keeping up with your videos I just don't comment much. Your doing an amazing job by the way keep up the good work!
@@GeorginasJourney I know for sure I'm not trust me! Your channel is great have watched most of your videos just don't comment much. You probably don't remember me. Keep up the good work your amazing.
You are an amazing young woman and I commend you for the time you spend on these evaluations. They are incredibly valuable when researching "real life" uses of power chairs!
Thank you so much, that really means a lot to me to know that the videos I put out are helpful 😊 I’ve got a new powerchair now and am hopefully going to do a video of that sometime!
Hi Georgina, The new wheelchair looks awesome. I have to say, I’m a big fan of the higher back because for me personally my back needs that good support. Isn’t technology wonderful, I look forward to seeing that demonstration. All the best. 😊👍x
Neil Bradley thanks Neil! Yeah, it’s much more practical for me too, I don’t know when I’ll be able to do it, but hopefully I get a chance to soon :) x
@@wheelchairgeek Neil & I know our own needs & what works for us 😊 Everyone is different & needs different things! Especially with an Alber-E-fix, a low back isn’t needed to aid self propelling as the person doesn’t self propel with an E-fix. Furthermore, the back is actually probably lower than the ones in your E-fix videos. Not that it matters anyway, everyone has different needs.
@@wheelchairgeek Thank you for comment, and yes don't I know it (about being tall). I've actually got a mobility scooter which I'm starting to quite like and finding it very helpful. I've just checked out your channel and watched a couple of your videos, which were really interesting. I've liked and subscribed. Cheers - Neil (UK)
I found this video very helpful. I am a young adult with EDS and I've currently been bedbound for 9 months since October 2019. I have just received a new wheelchair from the NHS as a rehabilitation aid. It's a self propelled wheelchair, the health professionals know I can't self propell but it's to maximize any independence I will gain through rehab. I was wondering since you have a manual wheelchair with a power pack if you had any tips on buying one and also if would even be compatible for my chair or not. I'm not quite at the stage where I'm going out so I have time now to plan what's going to happen when I am able to go out. I want to be able to get around as much as possible without help from another person so a power pack sounds amazing. This video has shown me the possibilities that are out there. I was supposed to get a powered chair but as I'm sure you are aware the NHS will find the slightest reason to give you the cheapest thing possible and for me they found a way to say no to a powered chair. Do you have any suggestions or tips of how I could buy a power pack to suit my NHS manual wheelchair? I would really appreciate it and thanks for your videos as it makes me feel much less alone and hopeful. I'm sorry this message is quite long.
Chaya Kinn hi! You’ll need to contact a seller of the Alber E-fix to ask if it’s compatible with your wheelchair, I don’t know which wheelchair you have so there’s no way for me to know. However, in terms of independence, I think you’ll find it helpful to watch my ‘power assist comparison guide’ video which you can find on my channel or search for on RU-vid- it shows what sort of power assist options are available, as well as the pros and cons to all of them. This option does have limitations with independence, so I highly recommend you watch that video. For funding, there’s a charity called ‘Mind Body EDS’ who you can apply to for a grant of a few thousand pounds, and then you can do a GoFundMe go to fund the rest like I did if you need to (all power assists are just under £5,000, so there will be some excess that you’ll have to find yourself, which is why many use crowdfunding as well, which is typically a GoFundMe). Hope this helps!
3:56 If the rear wheels could be moved back a little, I believe it would make your wheelchair less tippy. Needless to say, your brakes would have to be adjusted accordingly. 7:14 I do hope to see that. 7:39 Yes, they turned out well.
Bert Visscher I cant really adjust that unfortunately! I’ll try to show it in another video :) Good, I’m glad to hear that :) I must say, your method for writing comments with timestamps is great Bert, I always know exactly what you’re talking about without you having to explain too much :)
Hey Georgie, that’s quite the wheelchair, wow! So much stuff. It looks comfortable at least and from the sounds of it makes your life much easier and it’s not bulky and in the way like most chairs. It’s amazing how far technology has come for wheelchairs, here in the US almost every shop or building has access to get in and out and even sidewalks are built wider now. I had to use one once for a couple days, broke my ankle, I didn’t realize how much work it is to wheel around, my hands were so sore then I went to crutches for a few months. I assume the braces are for raynauds, though I never understood what they do. I assume the pressure of them helps with blood flow?
Tate Thompson hope your ankle is fully healed now! No, they’re for dislocations (I explained it a bit in the video at around 5:40 :) ), my CMC thumb joints dislocate many times a day or are chronically dislocated, meaning they can stay out of the joint for weeks at a time, so the braces keep the joints in place and so help reduce my dislocations and pain :) I do also have raynauds, but I don’t do anything for it except wearing gloves in the winter :)
Georgina's Journey ah I thought you said “discomfort” not dislocate, sorry, Wow, that must be so painful and annoying if it’s chronic. I’m glad those braces help. They aren’t even super noticeable, I think it’s the color of them. I’ve had the occasional dislocate from sports years ago but I play guitar so I’m careful with my hands these days haha but I do remember the feeling. Does is ever bother you during classes with writing or even typing on phone/laptop? As for my ankle, I broke it on a ladder at work a few years ago, the safety lock failed and the ladder shifted and my ankle rolled. I was out three months, then I went back to work and it never healed, so after about three years of just living through the agonizing pain, now I’m actually getting it reconstructed I’m hoping in early January, just have to wait for the judge to fully order the company to pay for it. I need a ligament repaired, Achilles bursa repaired, arthritis shaved off bone, spurs removed, bones fused and the worse is replacing the cartilage in the joint which is 75% gone. So that will be loads of fun 😒 haha. Better to get it done now though while I’m still in my twenties than later on before more damage occurs. 4-6 months recovery. I’ll have to stock up on books haha. Your glasses look good on you, used to your videos without them.
Tate Thompson yeah, I can’t write much and sometimes not at all, typing is a lot easier Ah that sounds so painful, sorry it’s all been going on for so long! Hopefully that helps it finally heal properly! Thanks :) I usually take them off as I don’t like how I look with them on 🙈
Georgina's Journey typing is so much easier anyways. That must be annoying to deal with at times though. When I write things, I usually can’t read my own writing the next day hahaha. You pull off glasses very well, nice eyes and smile, they work for you and I think glasses are popular again, so many people using them versus contacts again, well here anyways. Are you around London? I have some friends around there, they have totally different accents than you, more city like accents. Then I have a buddy up in Durham, and I have a hard time understanding him 😂😂.
T Thompson thank you! I think I left them on in a few parts of my vlog that I’m uploading in a few days so I’ll have to get used to seeing myself in them more haha Yes, quite near there! A couple of hours away in the car and only an hour away on the fast train :) Yeah, the northern accents can be tricky to understand at times haha, where are you from? And would you say your accent is typical for your area?
Great review! We have these wheels for our daughter and we’re wondering if you ever take your chair out in wet weather? We were warned, and it states in the user manual, to “Ensure that no liquid or moisture reaches the wheel hub” . This has been inconvenient for us and I was wondering if I’m misunderstanding the instructions? Surely wheelchairs should be designed for transport even in wet weather? Also, we were also warned to never let the charge go to 0, else the wheels have to be sent to Germany for repair. Have you heard this as well? Thanks for any advice you can offer us 😁.
Hi! I have gone out when it’s been lightly raining and not had any problems, but I haven’t been out with it in heavy rain, so I’m not certain about that. And I always try to avoid the battery reaching 0, so I haven’t had experience with that either- although I wasn’t warned about that when I bought them, so I assume it would be okay for them to reach 0- I would imagine that happens more commonly than you would think as it’s easy to stay out for longer than you planned and get caught out!
@@GeorginasJourney Thank you so much! This will make the chair so much more practical. Thanks for posting! I’m super impressed with your RU-vid videos. You’re reaching so many people!
Sorry is this is a rude question I really dont understand social norms some times ( autistic) . How much did it cost? And how long is it ment to last for? If things get old can you just buy parts like a car? If I'm making you feel uncomfortable I'm sorry.
Stacey Fell Hi Stacey, great questions! Nothing is off limits on my channel :) The power assist costs around £4, 700 I think which is crazily expensive, so a charity helped me pay for mine :) It should last me quite a few years and some parts are replaceable, yes :) You didn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all, hope you’re doing well today :)
Hi love the review. Can I just ask as my wife recently got her chair upgraded to Efix 35 from 25. It regularly comes up on the controller s11 code as in communication error between wheels, just wondering has this happened to you also cheers
Liz Braendle yes I think so! More like rain and splash proof rather than fully waterproof I was told, which is fine cos I don’t intend to get submerged in it 😂😂
Hey I was just wondering if the wheels are waterproof/water resistant in a sense of if it rained over night and the pavement is wet It could still be used out or if you got caught out in a rain shower??
Chris Stevens thanks! It has a maximum speed of 6km an hour, but I tend to use it at 4km or 4.5km depending on who I’m walking with. The battery life is very good & I usually have about 3-4 trips out on a single charge, but you’ll have to google the mileage, as I don’t know numbers like that off by heart
Penelope Polins née Meyer sorry Penelope, but no, they don’t offer anything like this :( Mine was funded by a charity, and u had to fundraise the rest, the charity was Mind Body EDS if you’re interested xx
Could you make a video or tell me about that tape / brace thing on your thumb? My thumb has been dislocating like crazy and I am looking for something to help
Fiona M push Ortho thumb brace for the CMC joint, so expensive but so worth it & life changing! Make sure it’s your CMC and not actual thumb joint (which is high up) if you get one!
Emily J yes, my wheelchair does! & yes, your wheelchair would need to have detachable wheels as the e-fix wheels are electric and would need to be used instead of whichever wheels come with the wheelchair :)
If you can lift it, you don't have to. My friends lift it into the car without disassembling it, but I know they do struggle a bit with the weight of it
Hi, friend, I have a wheelchair similar to yours, but mine doesn't have the kit you have in yours: Those roses with motors, battery and control, that make your walk. Can you at least donate the kit to me, I try to adapt it in my wheelchair?
@@GeorginasJourney Good night friend! I understand you and I apologize, I know that you also need to get around... I'll ask someone else for a donation, grateful for answering me.
@@DanielCabral1966 no one is going to donate you their wheelchair, as they need it themself. Start a GoFundMe or try to find a charity that donates wheelchairs to people who need them or a charity who donates money for people to buy wheelchairs with
@@GeorginasJourney Yes, friend, I know that not one person is going to donate the wheelchair they use... I only asked for a donation, because I thought you represented a company. I always ask companies, even if they don't respond, I keep asking them, who knows, maybe one day I'll receive a donation, or GOD bless me money... Once again I'm sorry there...
Omg, seriously I watched one (as I am disabled too) of your videos..and this is the third, and your most recent. I don't know why but... And I say this seriously... I (from my limited knowledge) think your one of the most beautiful souls I've seen in a long time, your acsent is sexy as hell (by the way). Dang too bad I live in the states.. lol
