Its hilarious that Kushal is being all smug and cocky like this(2:13) throughout, when he backed away from a debate with J Sai Deepak on decoloniality and his book, multiple times. "Background in philosophy" but can't handle a simple debate. So pathetic. Secondly, wokeism is a colloquial term, there is no formal or academic/conceptual definition of wokeism the way he tries to provide it. Wokeism is NOT postmodernism or applied intersectionality or decoloniality, the way he describes it. Its a classic strawman by Kushal to define it in a way that helps him further his point of view. Wokeism is vaguely used for people who go overboard in a fight against social/political injustices within society, thus what is woke for one might not be for the other and there are various degrees to which people start considering something woke. Again, its a colloquial term. Thus, in this paradigm, the "trads" are not "wrong" or "incorrect" when they say Kushal Mehra is being woke by regurgitating LGBT politics or promoting caste reservations or imposing western worldview and lenses onto India. Its their degrees of tolerance of what they consider "woke", there are no formal standards or definitions of that term. Third, the only people as cringe as wokes, are the anti-woke people. Going overboard and obsessing in a quest for imaginary victories. Kushal playing his part by giving his own hard definition to wokeism based on things that HE opposes philosophically. And let me not get started on what the likes of him did with the term "trad". Trad initially was simply used for traditionalists in the indic/hindu wing. They made it into a polemic, a slur. They made it into a caricature/a boogeyman so that they can easily "win" arguments, by reducing trad side's arguments to these insignificant minority of trolls/shitbags. Now, when those on the traditionalist side, who were actually called trads in the past, like J Sai Deepak, their stuff is now to be burdened with all the negative imagery of "trad" they established, even if they share nothing with those extreme views. I guess this is why Kushal even refuses to debate JSD, bcz perhaps these people cannot stand face-to-face against traditionalists and their arguments and have to resort to such cheap tactics and passive/indirect counters. Lastly, I will respond to this(11:37) argument: Our objective as political hindus is to push fwd our interests, and the interests of the larger hindu community. If victimhood or intersectionality is what works in the west currently, then we must play that game and be good at it. Same for whatever works in other cultures and times. Overall, there are things that I agree/disagree on with the Raitas/Trads/Kushal/JSD, but I feel this obvious disingenuity of Kushal and his indirect attacks and jibes on JSD's work without ever sitting face-to-face, needs to be called out.
