Kuzuha: Hey guys, we should help each other in hell mode Chat: Ok *Random kanji comes up* Kuzuha: guys, what is this Chat: *puts random answers* Kuzuha: I THOUGHT Y'ALL WERE SMART This clip truly showed that chat reflects the streamer lol thx
Watching this while attempting to learn Japanese is both hilarious and a source of great despair! I also watch Kuzuha just to immerse but it seems like he's just as confused by kanji as I am 草
out of curiousity, don't most if not all japanese people must be able read kanji because it's part of their language, and is everywhere in Japan? Is he possibly struggling because he's not native or something? I've always thought he's pure Japanese tho...
As you can see in his chat, it's not just him that's struggling so I think these must be words that aren't commonly seen in daily life or some kind of specialized word. Although Kuzuha sometimes joke that JP is his 2nd language and his 1st language is demon world language so 😅 we will never know.
I am Japanese. Kuzuha can read kanji at an average Japanese level. For most people, if you can complete the normal mode and the first half of the hard mode of this game, it is enough to spend time in Japan. The kanji that Kuzuha cannot read are terms and proper nouns that are not used in daily life. Incidentally, there are 2,136 kanji characters in daily use as defined by the Japanese government, and there are 4,388 ways to read kanji. From this list, you will learn special kanji such as names of people and places, so if you can remember about 3,000 characters, you can say that you are reasonably well educated as a native Japanese. (This is probably the level to clear hard mode or the first half of very hard mode.) Furthermore, the most famous kanji test for Japanese people, "Kanken" is said to have about 6000 characters at the highest level. A person who can pass this test may be able to clear Hell Mode on his/her own.
@@rootlotus7570 I am currently studying japanese as part of my college course and this now made so much sense to me. the amount of writing systems and kanji XD it's like studying 3 languages in a single language
it might be similar to how sometimes we don't know some word that straight come out from dictionary bcs they rarely used in daily life and might only be used in some occasion like writing formal letter or writing literature.
