The Skewb is one of the more interesting puzzles in the WCA. It was only added recently, yet has already seen thousands of people compete. So why is it so popular?
I'm so slow at skweb. My skweib times are very bad compared to most skewbers. In fact, the last time I timed a skyoob solve I got something like 20 seconds on my ske which by the way is a Shengshou squwp.
all video titles: skweb, skweib, skewb, skyoob, ske, squwp fun fact #1: the title "skyoob" was just changed recently as of jan. 26, 2018. it is a sign that tch is still active after being inactive for 2 months (summer break)
Master Skewb should be the default skewb puzzle. The master skewb is to the 3x3 as the skewb is to the 2x2. Nobody's main event is the 2x2, it's very quick and very luck based, it's mot really a puzzle, just a test of dexterity. And the skewb is a little better than the 2x2 in that respect, but not by much. It should be the little bonus event, not the main event So yeah, master skewb should absolutely be a WCA event. If you had to choose only one skewb to have an event, you'd choose the master skewb every time, though there's no reason to not have both. Just have at least the master skewb at minimum, and then have the normal skewb as well if there's time. Also Fisher cubes should absolutely be a WCA event. They're different enough from 3x3 cubes. The solve of a Fisher cube isn't the same as for a 3x3, because of parity, and because of orientation that's required. Which is why 4x4 is a different event to 3x3. So if 4x4 gets its own event, so should Fisher cubes. Also mirror cubes. Come on. They're everyone's favourite shape mod. Make it an event, damn it But if I had to choose only one of all of these I'd pick the master skewb. Because then we'd start getting tons of big companies like MoYu and Gan making really really good master skewbs, compared to the relatively paltry selection we have currently
So. The half depth cut (face, corner, edge) cubes are the 2x2, Skewb, and the 24-cube. What makes the 24 so seemingly difficult for people to make or get?
