This is a Kwikset door handle install instructions that are fast and easy! In this step by step beginners guide I show you unboxing and installing. This Kwikset door knob has the smartkey feature that can be used to rekey all your door knobs to the same key. Installing a kwikset door handle is a DIY project.

Just installed believe it or not my first front door handle. I bought the Kwikset because of the adjustable connecting post on the bottom of the handle, that made it an easy perfect fit. On the old one the handle had been broken for a long time but the door still opened, closed and locked because the deadbolt still worked. I should have done this many years ago. LOL...... I'm an example that you can teach an old dog new tricks. Great video, it helped a lot !

Great video, my handyman didn’t know the adjustment trick at 6:00 for right side door install. Took out the new kwikset and returned it😢 boo 😊hoo. Going back to Home Depot to buy and install it again.

Holy shit I made the tiniest but arguably worst mistake. I didn’t realize I could pull out the part around 6:07. I’ve spent HOURS trying to make this shit work. I fuckin love this man

That is a Gorgeous front door. The worst is when you have a dark wood front door, and a homeowner installs a yellow of silver door handle. If anyone comes across a loose door latch or deadbolt and wants a solid repair that doesn't involve glue, stick, putty, or that ugly metal sleeve that ruins the look of your door, ReSecure Latch is that answer. I have been searching for a permanent solution to repair my front door because the last maintenance guy stripped out my door by overtightening the screws. I tried a larger screw but it didn't last long. I tried finding your product at Home Depot or ACE, but they never heard of you. Where can I go to get one. These are not available on amazon either.

Thanks! I was stuck trying to get the cover off with the little white paper. It was a shorter piece that the one you have, however with your video I was able to get it off easily. My painter just spent an hour trying to install a new replacement and the instructions did explain how to turn the handle spindle but he missed that - Less than a minute on your video and voila - problem solved. Really appreciate you!!!! 😀

Josh: Thanks for the great video that explains everything so well!! However, some people might have gotten mislead a little when you said (2:25) that you recommend a drill with a 1/4 inch drill bit. Hopefully everyone will realize that in some cases the 1/4" drill bit is too large. For example, when you're drilling the holes for the dead bolt strike plate (10:15), the instructions call for a 3/32 inch bit and a 1/8 inch drill bit. Also, I suggest that before you screw the strike plates down that you close the door and make sure the door shuts and locks properly. I try to avoid having to move a strike plate after it has been screwed down.

mine was opposite as well, until i realized you can just pull the switch out, turn it, and push it back in.

the tip on how to switch the crescent part inside the handset to the other side by pulling out and then turning it was a lifesaver. no instructions found from kwikset. I've installed plenty of doorknobs but this was my first handle set. thanks.

My contractor wasted 2 days , 3 trips to Home Depot to exchange lock sets and many scratches on new 3k value door until I showed him this video at 5:58 providing info about wrong key and that saved us all from more damages .

Over time, the screws inside the knob can become loose just from day-to-day use. Mine did, to the point that the internals of the knob disintegrated. But thanks to 6:07, plus a bit of detective work, I was able to re-assemble the knob myself!

At one house, there is a set of double doors, and even though both doors have a kwikset handle and deadbolt, only one of them works; one of them is a dummy, or something like that. Do you have any information on where to buy a set for double doors where one of them is a dummy handle/deadbolt?

So my inside handle came loose, so I took it apart and tightened it but now my Allen wrench part is stripped and the handle won’t stay on. Any tips? Or should I just buy a new handle piece that matches? Thank you

Hey your video is awesome, but wouldn’t the screw go in the inside? And the cover on the outside? Seems weird to have that exposed on the outside that anybody can unscrew it. In regards to the bottom part of the handle.

my problem is getting the lever knob from the inside off. there are no screws and i see a little hole on the handle itself, but when I put a very small screwdriver into it it does not come off. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? thanks.
