it seems dake has really spent a good amount of time these past 2-3 years working on his motion in the standing position. his footwork and upper body motions have such a smooth yet unpredictable rhythm, he's like a boxer out there
I agree that we punish the country and not the athletes but Russia has been notorious for doping their athletes and their athletes complying in order to win. I think this time it warrants their athletes getting banned. It’ll make up for the last 5 years of doping they got away with
Congratulations to Dake. Controlled the match and Salk had no offense at all. Just a total shut down. As the commentator talked about, on the first day of competition at 74kg, Dake lately seems to suffer from very low energy, like a bonk. He looked exhausted halfway through that semi match although it was not that active a match. Not sure if it is the weight cut or what it is. But then the next day he looks like himself again.
@@arturotegenov7220-Neither he nor Sidakov showed up last October. Other top guys were there. They chose to be elsewhere. If Dake is feeling good then he matches up very well with him if he wrestles him defensively. You cannot go for throws against the top guys because there is too much risk of a counter.

Don't think Dake's semi-final win was because he wasn't ready. Emami has been superb in this tournament and was the second best wrestler. Hopefully you'll put the video of semis and third place matches too !
@@coachjody1971 counter wrestling is great though, force your opponent to take bad shots or risks and capitalize on it. only works because hes able to go out and get a takedown or get a push out or even hit a throw for 4 seemingly at will. its a great plan that obviously works well for him at all levels
Not a wrestler but watch it from time to time. Kyle really is boring to watch. JB on the other hand is blast. Always fire to watch these crazy double legs.
Noticed a humbler Kyle Dake this tournament, it served him well. Also, the Iranian was the second best at the weight and gave Dake a tough go, dont think it could all be atteibuted to Dake being tired.
@trekker75 Dake was able to score points. Your guy could do nothing but walk forward. I'm sorry, but don't get mad when the guy who scores zero offensive points loses.
Ok, enough without the ref not holding the arm up for the winner. Some losing wrestlers just walk off the mat. Completely wrecks the moment of victory.
I would like to see a standard process at the end of the match, for example the protocol judo manages the respect for opponent, officials, and fans. I understand the disappointment of a loss but no one looks good huddled with head down and it is not good for the sport.
The lady judge who most likely hates America gives Dake a second card to give the opponent another free point. Mind you the guy never took one shot!!!!
This is the Dake we saw at the Olympic trials, he looked insane at that tournament and has been on and off since. I hope he can continue to perform the way his did tonight because boy is he good!🇺🇸🇺🇸

Because he ran backwards quite a bit. He was offensive early on, but later on not. Americans in general are pretty good at wrestling from space, but most wrestlers need some kind of tie up to set up their attacks. Salkazanov did try to tie up but Dake avoided this well. I am somewhat of a Dake fan yet do agree with the referee here.
@@michiel5160 i mean if you cant shoot from space you dont deserve to win a world title no? atleast id view it as such. as a wrestler and coach i want my guys to be comfortable with shots from multiple positions so theyre never unable to score. sure, some may prefer a tie and some might prefer the space. but theyll get practice and good at both so they can always hit something
@@chriswitek9455 The rules promote contact and attacks because they want attractive wrestling. I think you should be able to score from everywhere, but wanted to point out Salkazanov wasn't necessarily passive bc he didn't shoot. Dake ran away. Passivity will always be somewhat subjective anyway. But I think with the challenges and decision clarifications they do a good job of making the judging more transparent. In the end the best won. That's just how I see it.
Daaaaaamn, Dake and Jordan are dancing better than Muhammed Ali in the ring. I hope the refs puts an end to this style of wrestling. It's laugable and embarrasing. Can't even put a hand on them. And thos jabs. Great boxers.
In Judo, we see a very large number of athletes from Western European countries on the world tour. Such as AUT, BEL, ESP, FRA, GBR, GER, ITA, NED, and POR. In contrast, it's extremely rare to see them in wrestling. Why don't they choose wrestling, even though Britain is the birthplace of freestyle and France the birthplace of Greco-Roman?
a lot of wrestlers come out of asia, middle east, and eastern europe. the competition is so tough a lot of them actually move to different countries to wrestle. western europe just doesnt have the same incentive compared to these guys. they see it as feeding their family whereas in western europe it would be more or less a badge of honor. they go into the match for 2 completely different reasons.
Even in the US wrestling does not guarantee you financial security. So why pursuit a profession that won't set you and your family up for life? Might as well pursue a sport in which the players make money
I think it's in large part because wrestling is just wayy wayy tougher and much better than judo. The competition is so much tougher. Olympic judo champs are equivalent to elite high school wrestlers.
Not sure why Dake’s opponents are such cry baby poor sports when they lose? He’s a 4 time world champion, they should show more respect and sportsmanship.
Seems to be a trend. Lay on the mat with head down when you lose. The Iranians did it, too. Lots of Caucasus area wrestlers, too. I hate it as much as guys jumping around and screaming and pounding their chests when they win. Shake hands, look them in the eye. Match over. My 2 cents.
These refs and judges can really be biased against the US. Blue should have been on a shot clock at least twice....and they wanna flag Dake for being aggressive, even though this is TOP TIER competitive wrestling. Good job on the dub Dake.
Without Dagestanis, how accurate these competitions are? If Kadimagomedov, Sidakov were able to participate we would have different results. Common leave politics aside, and let the athletes perform and show us who is the best...
Dake was a bad@$$ in college! If Burroughs hadn't blocked the poor guy for a full decade he would probably have an Olympic gold medal by now. I think he made Tokyo but got teched 11-0 because he didn;t have enough exposure to that level of wrestling. If he makes the 2024 Paris Olympics maybe he will get a second chance! Maybe he will get lucky and Burroughs will shatter his other ankle and miss 13 weeks training in 2024!

Let me clear things up. I agree that Russian government betrayed everyone and especially sportsmen. They all deserve this shit. However if we take best of 74 today, Zaurbek is above all, Zhamalov is very strong today and he wd beat Dake most likely, Kadi showed who is who. My conclusion is this match showed us who is 3rd or 4rth today. I think it could be a good point to make commercial tournaments at 74 above World Cup. Otherwise Dake will always feel half champion

Kyle shot 5 times and scored on two of those. Outside of the final 30 seconds, how many shot attempts did his opponent have? (Zero) Also Americans easily won this tournament, that doesn't happen by "not wrestling".
