JFL audiences are really tough. There's so much at stake at this festival as well. I've seen a ton of these "sets" and they're always this tense. You're basically auditioning for your whole career at JFL. There's a good documentary series about it on Amazon called Inside Jokes.

It's weird, isn't it? Every time I thought he was going to blow up he just sort of... went away for a while. Maybe he doesn't feel compelled to "blow up." Some musicians and comedians etc are happy to just do it on a small scale and not chase Stardom constantly. Or maybe he's just writing, for TV or other people. Apparently he has a podcast, perhaps I should check that out.
