As a Buckeye, I wasn't the biggest fan of Kyle as a player, but I hope he shines at Syracuse! I hope he breaks records. I hope they make some noise with him.
Michigan fan here, I’m so hoping this kid goes to Syracuse and have a Heisman season, can’t stand how Ohio state acted towards this kid and Praised CJ and he played a much better game against us then CJ ever did.💯 karmas a bitch! He’s going to take Syracuse to new heights and Ohio state paid millions just to get there ass handle again this November! 💯
So happy to have QB like McCord to start and lead this new chapter - the way Fran Brown talks about building a team that honors the incredible history of Syracuse Football - so excited for that first game - and yes, the social media game is FIRE and got me pumped
18:52 Even cooler… back in Coach Mac era, players used to come down to The Varsity in the evening after a game to flip the banners. The marching band took over the tradition when players stopped doing it. Would LOVE to see players take back the tradition WITH the marching band playing. Either way, looking forward to seeing MANY banners flipped this year! 🧡🍊🏈🎯
Buckeye fan here. Kyle's a good guy. He made one real mistake the entire year as QB1 at Ohio State which is really saying something. The ND comeback was simply epic. He gets wayyy too much hate. Unfortunately that mistake was the 6 points that put 3rd L in a row in the column and he took the brunt of more than 3 years of failure at that point. And no I'm not kyle's friend, I don't know him from Steve, but I'm a die-hard OSU fan and I never thought he was nearly as bad as half these dudes said. He's not Justin Fields, or CJ Stroud, but I mean wtf is. Those are two starting NFL QB's 2 of 32 people in the entire world. Keep your head up Kyle, you got a bright future whatever it may be.
I’m not saying this in a bad way but he didn’t seem ready for the pressure that comes with being OSU starting QB. We have the biggest fanbase and that can be a lot to handle.
@@ldcow3948 He went 12-1……CJ’s record was much worse….as was every QB we’ve had at Ohio State except Jones and Haskins => and Kyle was one block away from beating the eventual National Champions. Haskins couldn’t score 21 points vs Purdue. Buckeye Nation $hit on this young man every week, even though he played well enough to win every game and was the main reason we won many big games. Stroud never won a big game at Ohio State and was the main reason we lost 4 games and it should’ve been 7. I wish McCord the best and appreciate all he did while at OSU.
@@13kimosabi13stop it cj had terrible defenses. The only moment he has was against ND and he almost threw the game losing int but the safety dropped it so no one remembers that play. he never got better, his pocket presence was terrible, he was scared of the moment, Fucked his 0-line all the time, took unnecessary sacks and grounding penalties. he was the most inconsistent qb i’ve seen at osu in a while
@@tshiesty6022 Still => Kyle had a better record & better winning percentage than CJ……he beat 2 equally talented teams ( whereas CJ was 0-4)……and Kyle did it with a much worse O-line. PS. Stroud’s poor performance against Oregon flat out lost that game => go back and watch his INT near the end of that game, which was at Home, in the Shoe => and the Ducks didn’t end up National Champs……. You spin lots of BS and “what if’s” => let’s just stick with what actually happened.
@@13kimosabi13 Using winning percentage as a QB stat is ignorant. You want what ACTUALLY happened? Okay. Here: Ohio State won 11 games in spite of McCord's play nearly every week. He had two games out of 12 where he looked like a confident, poised, ready for the moment quarterback. Western Kentucky and Michigan State, two of the worst teams on the schedule. The other 10 games? Poor pocket presence, poor decision making, horrid accuracy down the field, inconsistent play overall, and showed no development from week 1 to week 13. Every time Ohio State's offense stepped on the field, it was the equivalent of dragging a fishnet through mud, because the vast majority of the time McCord did something that made you shake your head and say "that is terrible." He lost the game at Notre Dame twice and they handed it right back. Both the dropped interception and the intentional grounding on the same series of plays, followed by the Notre Dame staff forgetting how to count to 11 TWICE. The interception inside the Ohio State 20 against Michigan not only, in essence, lost them the game, but was one of his worst throws of the season, in a spot where a QB CAN NOT make that mistake if he wants to be elite. I wish Kyle the absolute best, but he was not a big time, blue blood, cold-blooded quarterback. He was not ready for Ohio State in most, if not all capacities of quarterback play. Could he become great? Sure. But he wasn't. Not even close. This is not just based on stats. Statistically he is average to good. Probably around 15-25 in the country. On FILM he is 30th at best. So spare us the "well his winning percentage was this! He beat these teams!" because HE didn't single handedly do anything, and many times those wins were, as I said, in SPITE of his play. We watched it live, then broke it down on film.
Buckeye fan here, I'm glad Kyle found a home. He got alot of crap from OSU fans, most of it undeserving. When you have CJ Stroud the best rookie nfl qb of all time play right before you, I think expectations were elevated and people had unrealistic expectations for him. That being said he needs to be way more consistent, way too many bad throws behind recievers. He could be a top 5 QB in his draft if he just becomes more accurate and consistent.
Undeserving? lol Dude didnt want to compete after having an average season. When you have one receiver like Emeka have his productivity go down from 1200 yards to 550 yards is wild and only happened because mccord stared down Marv 90 percent of the time. Then he wanted assurances he was gonna be the starter and Day wasnt having it. Dueces. They'll march on without him and possibly have to face Ohio State in the playoffs because Syaracuses schedule is trash this year
Buckeye here.. remember kyle was following 3 straight first rd draft picks, so that was some tough acts to follow. Ohio St isn't for everyone so no bad feelings. If you drive down against ttun and win the game your a legend forever, unfortunately that wasn't the case and it's time to move on for both parties. Goodluck tho
I’m a big Osu hater, but I actually thought McCord played real well against Michigan. I also thought he played real well all season long. But Osu fan and alum are snakes. They’ll turn against you in a heartbeat. McCord wasn’t the reason Osu lost. Michigan was just far superior. Michigan ran the ball for 8 straight mins in the 4th. People cite the interception but every QB throws a pick every now and then.
I felt bad for him with how things ended up at OSU. I feel like he did enough for that team to be great, however it came off like osu (Day specifically) was allowing this young kid to take the fall for the loss against Michigan. When compared to the last two beatdowns in 21 and 22...OSU actually had a chance to win with him. I am a Michigan fan, but I'm hoping this kids lights it up at Syracuse and if there is some crazy way...to see Syracuse play OSU in the playoffs or some bowl game ... and smoke em.
Buckeye fan here. Hate to sound harsh but……. Stop trying to hype this guy up. He’s going to do good at Syracuse with that cupcake schedule. But he’s not elite or will make it in the NFL.
Best thing to ever happen to OSU football was the day Kyle entered the portal. OSU fans want and deserve a QB that wants competition. Not a QB whose daddy threatened coaches to either guarantee he is a starter or they are leaving. Good riddance to bad rubbish. We now have FIVE qb's COMPETING for a chance to be the starter. The only school to guarantee daddy Kyle would start with NO competition would be Syracuse!!!! While OSU will compete for a Natty ' Kyle will not be competing for anything but a .500 record! Lol
No heart McCord to chickenshit to comp for the starting job at Ohio State..... Don't worry you guys will get just as tired of his check Downs not checking his progressions and shiting himself every time he gets in a big moment.... Dude's got all the arm talent in the world but he can't stand pressure.. and you better not talk bad about him his Daddy will DM you call and complain... Hopefully he can mature but unfortunately I don't see it happening
Your ignorance is showing every OSU fan, coaches, and armchair qb doesn't blame Kyle. That's like saying every Xichigan fan, coaches, and armchair qb doesn't think they were cheating. Ouch!
@curtishatem6739 Where in my comment did you see I said "all"? it's a blanket statement, genius. I've listened to plenty of podcasts and fans' comments blaming McCord. And your school has cheated plenty and you know it. you're the ignorant one if you think otherwise. How much money was spent on NIL to bring in transfers hoping to win? That should make you proud.
Hey Kyle how's your daddy doing? Is he happy about your playing time? Is he meddling yet? You were not Ohio State material but not everyone is. You did work hard! I wish you the best at Syracuse. Best of luck this year! Too bad you have an overbearing father.
