Kyle Pitts was selected fourth overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2021 NFL Draft, making him the highest drafted tight end in NFL history. Touted as the draft's "unicorn" for his unique blend of size, speed, talent, and collegiate production, Pitts had high expectations as one of the Falcons' top receiving targets going into the 2021-2022 NFL season.
Kyle Pitts would go on to join NFL Hall of Famer Mike Ditka as the only rookie tight ends in NFL history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards as he finished the season with 68 receptions for 1,026 yards and a touchdown.
Pitts was named to the 2022 Pro Bowl, making him the first rookie at the position to make the Pro Bowl since Jeremy Shockey in 2002.
Kyle Pitts was drafted following an off-season where the franchise traded all-world receiver Julio Jones and now will be headed into his sophomore season where Calvin Ridley (who missed the majority of the year to address his mental health) has been suspended for at least the entirety of the 2022-2023 season. More than ever, the Atlanta Falcons certainly have a lot riding on the hope that Pitts continues to build on his Pro Bowl rookie season.
