Thanks mate, that’s what I like about the car so much is the fact that it retains that iconic original styling, what is it they see a wolf in sheep‘s clothing 😂
@@miguelsolares9013 i bought mine for 1400 but there was a title issue that only i knew how to resolve. everything else was good condition. I WON!!!! (spring 2023)
This video inspired me to buy one, and he’s 100% right… finding a clean/un-abused model takes a while… I spent around 2-3 weeks looking for one like mine in the spec that I wanted it with lower mileage and no mods but honestly it was well worth the wait! I just want to keep mine as tip-top as possible. Maybe one day I’ll go down the big turbo route but for now I’m still loving mine standard!
400 bhp with drop in rods is definitely the sweet spot. I went this route in 2006 on mine , stupidly wanted more though. Did a 2.0 stroker kit with hybrid turbo and nitrous lol Was fun whilst it worked 560 bhp/540 ft lbs.
Wow that does sound fun! Nitrous always makes a party haha, so we have you to thank for tuning these cars in the early days, were you one of the first to try these things
in those days everything was trial and error so it wasn’t very reliable when pushed hard. The 560 was made using nitrous, it would run circa 450 without. It used to eat lamda sensors and mafs lol
I wish I could do this 1 day. It’s like some ppl look down on a TT but your smoking pretty much anything with those 400 horses. But you UK guys have different levels.. in the Netherlands this is pretty much top notch
Thats what i love most about it, looks standard but the moment you press the go pedal its anything but haha, would be wicked to give someone in a newer performance car a run and show them up
Thanks mate, thought I should up the production as you have started using the gimbal I’d dust mine off. The car is perfect, stock looking with a big loud pedal 😍
😂I’m jealous now mine is still stock as hell 225 and last week I had almost accidentally close to break the OE TB, luckily I will be doing my TB myself as my first attempt but now I’m struggling how to remove the engine mount bracket out the easy way yeah I’m not a mechanic I’ll take a time so…. My poor 225 BAM but I love it 😅 Btw “Good vid good sleeper “NICE !
Thanks buddy, we all have to start somewhere, im sure there is a few videos online showing how to lift or drop the engine enough to allow you to get the belt on and off
As Kyle said there is a video on instagram, the tt’s 1st gear is short and I wouldn’t ask the owner to do anything that’s risking damaging the car. As it’s a stock gearbox
Great review and sweet car. Saw it and Kyle at Ockham bites and was chatting about the hpa controller glad he got one. Having not known my car without the controller I was absolutely shocked when one day I forgot I had switched it off and wondered why I was struggling to get round corners at about half the speed I would expect and how much understeer it had and very unstable. It’s mad how much difference that controller makes, totally different car! 👍
Its a great bit of kit and yeah i can imagine how much worse it must feel without one when you are so used to having one, im saving up for one as think its a worthwhile investment
Glad you enjoyed it, Its brilliant for me to be able to share others tt's with everyone, as there are so many different tastes out there and what people have done it's nice to show this off to the audience
Would you mind confirming what the name of the haldex manual adjustment system is and what the name of the garage is that built this setup? Really amazing car.
beautiful car would love to do this to mine! (also nice beard its getting huge) love my 225 1.8t but the new technology in the ttrs or newer cars with rev matching transmissions are phenomenal. would love to put a 2.5t or 3.2t into my 225 the 1.8t stage 1 is still fast and a beautiful car but its not the same as a newer one with 400hp+ with newer transmissions and technology. but it still keeps up with most everything on the road pushing 300hp
Couldn't agree more! There was a gentleman at the caffeine and machine me last week who had a mark two TTS DSG box in his mk1 pushing some 510bhp & what a machine it was, but yes if you could put a 2.5, 5 cylinder in a TT that would be wicked
Great video Dom but would have been good to include a run down of parts and costs, if not individual but an overall project cost for the engine build and details of any other suspension and brake mods to show what can be done and at what price. Really nice thing though and a very sensible approach to tuning the 1.8t
Great point! as the car was done as a drive in and out service with badger five, there may have been some information that we would've missed should we have discussed it, yes brakes and suspension we should've discussed sure, I too like the approach he took, keeps the original look but with an enhanced powertrain.
@@TheParrottBros yeah it looks great. really like the overall build. I figured he would be about 5k in on the engine. I was working on £2600 for the turbo and manifold, £300 pipework , £00 intake £400ish intercooler, £700 exhaust, plus injectors, coilpacks etc and a few other bits and tune. Then additional cost of suspension and brakes. So effectively being able to buy and build a useable coupe with 400bhp for a max of 10k
@@AllTorque , Engine forged, head rebuilt with inconel valves and new springs , standalone ecu , uprated fuel pumps , external wastegate injectors the list goes on ive done a similar setup on mine... lots of work but worth the work so much better than the k04 based modified cars.. 😉 but the end result hes got a car with a very high bhp per tonne so lots of fun.😁😁
I got really excit4ed when you mentioned £400-£500 , then you had to ruin it talking £1500 then 4 or five grand, I had the exact same car and some twat wrote it off!!! I ended up buying a cab with 44k on the the clock for £3.5k
Thanks for all the interesting videos! Quick question please if anyone can help...if upgrades such as a new turbo are made, does this affect insurance? I've got a 225 with a stage 1 remap which was great compared to the original setup, but this was just a software upgrade. I'm tempted to go bigger at it's been a few years, I'm just worried the car won't be easily insured without spending a fortune. Thanks in advance for any advice!
Nowadays Insurance companies are pretty good when it comes to modifications, if you speak to someone like a plan specialist cars Thatcham, they will take any modifications from a simple remap to a 500 hp car and more, sometimes the price difference is less than £50 believe it or not
Yes mate gets to 30 real well! Haha. I’m thinking it’s a sensible option just need to go on a diet of beans for the next 6 months to cover the bill for the parts 😀
It’s a custom one, made by badger 5, the beauty of exhausts is they can be made as loud or quiet as you like. You can have a valve fitted that makes it quiet then an animal at the push of a button
You guys have sold it to me no need to go more BHP. I now live in Japan so how do I make up my car the same. ! I have a left hand drive Quattro 6 speed love the left hander feels dead flat below 3,000rpm then joyful there after..could be a sensor issue need to check it out. My next project is a Sportsline mk 1 I want to crack on with not sure its at least 250bhp plus! Any ideas guys..
Does he have an external wastegate or integrated? I am thinking of going for a gtx 2860 or 2867 and i dont like how the external sounds, i want an oem+ performance style gain without sounding like a seat leon.
Im not 100% sure on this set up but usually on the g25's they run an external gate but you can have that pipe fed back into the exhaust system to keep the sound down
Yes, I have seen cars with five or 600 hp running these, it just depends on the characteristics of boost, a lot of people opt for the larger one but you can still make good power with the original one
