I just don't get it Kylie Minogue could be described as a person with a marginal talent as an actor and a minimally competant singer with a thin non de-script voice devoid of any depth at all. As for her sister she appears to have no attributes other than being related to the former, how can it be that we pay any attention to this person at all. Am I alone??
No you are not ALONE. Understand since this is a video on Kylie 98% of the people that will even bother to comment will be DieHard fans on the same level as SayHey. Anyone that has to resort to maintaining this massive facade of claimed artistic talent is the result of long term conditioning from the media-machine since birth. You are correct in your assessment, Kylie is by no means even close to being on the same level as a real properly trained musician or Singer. She is a Poser like many other manufactured personalities. The music Industry is no longer about presenting Music with Integrity from Genuine Artists. Rather instead they horde out Attractive personalities like KYLIE to PIMP the fruits and labor of other musically gifted/talented people's work. The people saying otherwise are what is known as "FANATICS" aka FANS. Kylie like many other PopStars are Simply a FACE/IMAGE used to attract a wide demographic viewing audience for mass media consumption. Hence she lacks any real depth as you so astutely mentioned. Far better unknown singers can be found on RU-vid. SHE IS AN ENTERTAINER, nothing more. Without the backing of the mass Media hype and her past selling of sexual titillation she would be a has been. Also she is only really big in the UK.
Normally, I'd just quietly opine that Minogue haters can go straight to HELL, no £200 for passing Go either. However, John Q has made one valid point about mass-media "pimping" of artistes/stars, and manufactured pop. That is a real thing; however, one can only bluff one's way in showbusiness for so long. Thus, great electro-pop mass producers such as Stock/Aitken/Waterman, who produced most of Kylie's early music, could indeed seemingly pull a mediocre singer off the street, hole them up in the Vineyard PWL studios for a day or two, and ABRACADABRA! a likely top-40 pop hit... HOWEVER... that bluff cannot last. It's possible to manufacture fake talent in pop for a year or two, maybe, but not 30+. You can't sell 75-80 million records by being crap AND last in the business for all those decades. When Kylie picked up a microphone and sang a cover of "The Loco-Motion" to the audience at a benefit concert in 1987, the audience was aroused, and INTOXICATED by her voice. That was a major motivation for pressing it up as a record, and it became Australia's biggest-selling single of the decade. The PWL connexion and everything since, is, as they say, history. Minogues = CLASS The above is true whether you dare compare them with the famous vocalists of the '50s/'60s/'70s or not. I've been trying to think of earlier-era singers with similar voices, but have not been coming up trumps there. Kylie's voice is distinctive, and when she came on the scene, it was clearly popular. How she would have gone down had she (hypothetically) been a tad older and begun her major music career in, say, '77 instead of '87, is obviously pure speculation.
