In Kyo's defense, if he had chosen to not use the golden pipe and rolled a 6 like he did in 2:50 he would have both missed the star by 1 space and landed on the event space that would move Toadette to the other island. With that in mind, I'd say that playing it safe and choosing to use the golden pipe to get a star in turn 8 instead of on turn 9 was a good idea (at least in hindsight). Good job Kyo :D

Kyo just talked about this on stream, he's been thinking about it all this time.

Unfortunaty further in hindsight even if he was unlucky and something did move the star the golden pipe would gurentee it nonetheless, heck even allow him to potentially steal it from someone else. In the absolute least he would have beat Enna (the one who probably also knew but didn t say) for third place in the end 😂
