In 1916, Tsarist Russia exiles some Kyrgyz people from their ancestral lands to the Pamir mountains. They manage to adapt to this region where temperatures reach -40 degrees. Kyrgyz people, who were exposed to pressure in this region to which they adapted, settled in the Uyghur region of China. Here too, the Kyrgyz, who were oppressed by Communist China because they were Muslims, immigrated to Pakistan under the leadership of Hacı Rahman Kulu. Kyrgyz people, who are used to living in -40 degrees, have difficulty adapting when faced with a temperature of 50 degrees and deaths occur. America, aware of this situation, invites them to Alaska. In this process, an invitation also comes from Turkey. Kenan Evren says, "We are compatriots, come to Turkey and live wherever you want." Because they thought they would lose their religion and culture in Alaska, the Kyrgyz people rejected America's offer and started coming to Turkey in 1982. Some settle in Malatya, some in Adana, and some in Van. Then they all gather in Van. They named the village where they settled after the Pamir mountains where they were first exiled, and later changed it to Ulupamir.
