You are truly citizens of the world. Thank you for understanding our attitude of sacrifising animals. We rarely sacrifice horses on serious events like funeral or wedding, but we prefer cows. I can assure you 80-90% of those horses you saw on market are not for sacrifice. We use them as helpers at farm or just ride them. I mean we just love horses. (i used my best english ability i ve learned at school for this comment so don't judge)))
Hey Flora and Note! I’m so loving this series. What an amazing place and people. ❤the family who invited you. Such an endearing and welcoming family. Always appreciate your perspective’s on your journeys.
let me clue you guys in - the male sheep (big one) is used as a breeding ram and his price is dictated by his exterior and genetics, it was middle class one though some could go up to 10k USD easy. Horses are the most expensive males for breeding go up to 20-30k, the ones for riding and racing go up to millions.
What a great experience with your host family. We are very desensitised to where our meat comes from and as Flora said all of our food deserves more respect. Eating freshly slaughtered meat is not for everyone but in a way everyone should try it at least once.
Hello my Friends! What a wonderful view into the local culture there. The overlap between Asians grass lands and mountain people is wonderful. There is a sense of the people of inner Mongolia in China where family I knew there raised huge herds of sheep and the people of Tuva on their horses. A great music band called Hung Gai from that region blending rock and traditional music including throat singing. These markets could be in parts of middle America. What a great pleasure to experience. Thank you so much!
Thank you John! I think we’d really enjoy Inner Mongolia. It’s too bad we couldn’t fit it into our China Series 2 itinerary but we do have some amazing videos to come after Central Asia 😊
Guys I’m falling in love with you, you are such a lovely couple❤❤❤ Sincere respect and love to our neighbours Kyrgyzstan. That sheep no way could cost 100 000 soms. Anywhere in central asia just say Salem(salom, salam) and Rahmet(rahmat) which means hello and thank you, and everybody will understand you. That hat fits you perfectly, you look 100% local with it. Karakol is one of the best places in the world to ski, such an amazing and gorgeous views open from Karakol slopes.
Oh wow, what a fantastic episode of your Kyrgyzstan travel. Yeah, the warmth and hospitality of your homestay family is indeed a touching and memorable one. I truly love those apricots...they look so lovely on the trees. How wonderful you both could just pluck the fruits and eat them. What a wonderful journey you both have taken us on. Thank you very much, Flora & Note.
I find as humans we change as we get older we seem to care more about animals , when i was younger i would hunt pigs deer rabbits even Kangaroo's for food i still eat these animals but find it hard to shoot them myself anymore its like i feel guilty for taking their lives very weird feeling as a 51 yr. old man , another great upload you both amaze me your content is always new a fresh best channel on you tube
Welcome to my country ❤ Thank you for your lovely videos. I can only warn you that staying longer in Kyrgyzstan will harm your schedule as you might keep extending your holiday here. Because once you fall in love with this place you won’t be able to get over of it. ❤❤❤❤
Welcome to Kyrgyzstan. I hope you both will have an amazing stay here! I love knowing that people get to know our country. Many years ago it was so unknown but now more tourists come to visit! Its amazing :D
great clip... loved to watch and be so 'a little bit part of your journey' in a fully unknown part of the world.. (well.. farmer market with animals i know from my youth growing up 8n countryside switzerland)
Very nice. The family was very nice. They really enjoyed having you. It’s amazing how cultures vary all over the earth. I do eat lamb but I season it to get the gamely taste out. Continue safely on your journey. Thank you🙏
u both made me wanting to spend 2 weeks in central asia alone! so great to watch both Flora and Note complimented each other naturally in every aspects. And the contents appeared raw and untouched! tbh saved plenty of my time from researching of where to travel like how u both influenced me to hike tiger leaping gorge before 😆
Could not be more agreed with Flora, don't waste your foods and be grateful with it. from the farm to dining table, it takes so many processes and hard works, Itadakimasu 🙏🙏🙏
Guys welcome to Kyrgyzstan! Thank you so much for sharing your experience and emotions with us. I live in the south of Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬 I wish you could come to my city as well. Best of luck and safe travels for both of you! 👍🏻
Finally! I was waiting for this episode! It warms my heart to see my people treating you right❤ and btw, that kalpak and jooluk looked really really good on you guys!
I've been watching your video's for awhile now, this one is one of the best. It's very heartwarming. All your videos are informative and well put together.
Despite living in neighbouring counties I didn't know that Kyrgyz beshparmak ("five fingers") is made of noodle like pasta. We, in Kazakhstan, have a more plain, square shaped pasta, like in lasagna :) Also, we don't pour sorpa (soup/broth) on top of it. Just serve it separately in a bowl.
Welcome to Kyrgyzstan and my hometown, Karakol! You are so positive, and I wish you a pleasant journey. It was very amusing to watch your reaction at the livestock market, and I hope you didn't experience any culture shock)) I love animals very much, and since childhood, it has been hard for me to witness sacrifices, so I completely understand you. I would like to recommend visiting Lake Issyk-Kul, the Jeti-Oguz Gorge, the waterfalls in Barskoon, and the "Swallow's Nest" hot spring in Altyn Arashan - all of these are near Karakol. I also suggest visiting other lakes in Kyrgyzstan, and if you have time and the opportunity, make sure to see the beautiful Kel-Suu Lake, surrounded by mountains in the Naryn region.
Amazing that you guys decided to go to Kyrgyzstan. Thanks for taking us along. Hey guys FYI they aren't all cows they are called cattle collectively. Among cattle are cows and bulls (intact males) and steers (castrated). Fat-rumped sheep in Kyrgyzstan have immense fat deposits in their butts - the fat is called Kurdyuk and is are delicious. Not sure why your was gamey must be the way the family prepared it. Interesting market and episode. Totally agree in the West we have disconnected from our food source(s).
My favourite youtubers, wholesome, humble, and honest. I love how you seek out authentic experiences wherever you go and portray them with such respect and thoughtfulness. Thank you ❤
Thank you and happy traveling! I'm not familiar with that country but thanks to you, I was able to learn their cultures and beautiful nature. Hidden gem!
Animal husbandary is the pillar economy in central Asian countries. Thanks for delving in the normal life of ordinary family. It's a lovely family gathering and a big feast. ❤
@16:02 After watching the respect the family gave the sheep before dispatching it, I'd be a bit worried if the family suddenly started treating me really well. 🤣
@17:19 This is one of those situation where no matter what they serve you, out of politeness you really have to eat it. I can see that sheep's head on a plate just waiting to be eaten.
can i just ask what camera gear do yall use? the quality is amazing and so are your videos!! enjoying this series so much, thankyou flora and note!! :)
