The intro arp is off, there's a lot of resonance on the original sound. You also need to cut some of the bottom end of the pad attack sound. The synth when the band comes also needs a tiny bit of low cut plus some extra reverb - dial up just a little, you can clearly hear the room on the original. Overall it's a nice impression of the original though you could give it some polishing.
D. Corso Thanks for the feedback! I totally agree about the resonance. I have to change the reverb as well, mine is too bright. There's still lots of tweaking to do, so I appreciate your help with this.
Dave, I really enjoy your work. A lot. Your Uptown Funk is so cool. This is a wonderful recreation of one of my favorite songs. Sorry for this comment, but my OCD compels me. :) Kyrie is three syllables: keer-e-a, the "i" is pronounced like the letter "e" and the "e" is pronounced like the letter "a". It's Greek from Kyrie Eleison meaning "Lord have mercy." From the Mass. Brilliant song. I really liked Mr. Mister a lot. Their lead singer, Richard Page, released an album called Solo Acoustic in 2011 which is ... well ... solo and acoustic. :) He does a great cover of Kyrie. Sorry to be a language nerd.
Thanks Gary! I'll have to release an updated video - With Stephen's input, I've been able to get it fantastically close to the original. With the exception of some other little tweaks, it's almost there. It's *SO* crazy how powerful and complicated this board is. It seems like you can do just about anything.
Yes and no. I want to give people the flexibility to do things on their own time. Having a sample loop for each pattern COULD work but then you must play the sample perfectly on time unless you time-lock the trigger to Karma or something similar. I'd prefer to figure out how to do it without sampling it. Funny enough, I actually did manage a way to make it work which I think speaks a lot to the power of Karma and the Kronos. I only found out maybe 10 minutes after I recorded this video, and then fixed the combi. Now it's pretty much identical minus some EQ'ing and polishing of the sounds generally.
Does that mean the drummer for sure needs a click track or has to be sent a click...I wounder if theres a way to send the drummer a click from Kronos...
That arpeggio only happens in the intro where it's more or less free time. The drummer wouldn't need a click track for that unless you have the sequenced bass... In that case you could have a midi clock that the drummer click locks to for your bass otherwise you could play the bass sound manually if you wanted. For this song though, I'm not totally certain that you need a click track but it'd help if you're letting the step-sequenced bass run.
