Kyuhyun is technically the better singer, but for some reason I love Junsu's voice more. I love his tone and the way he emotes a song. Kyuhyun has a beautiful, smooth, and silky tone. Very easy to listen to, but for me it gets boring. Still a great voice but something draws me to Junsu's voice.
Indeed kyuhyun’s voice real boring(like what you said, probably because he has smooth silky and soft tone)! Junsu’s voice will always be missed 😢 and so yesung’s, changmin 2am😢,
Professor Park Junha said, “In the music world of composers, there are singers who give expressions well. For me, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun is that”. There was a track named “Wish” in TVXQ’s 4th album “Mirotic” Special Edition album that was composed by Prof. Park Junha. It’s the song that TVXQ Changmin, Junsu, Super Junior’s Ryeowook and Kyuhyun participated in. “Wish” was originally supposed to be included in “Miroctic” regular album. But, Prof. Park Junha had to go through arrangement 7-8 times, so he became mentally exhausted. He wanted to rest a bit and postponed works, so at the end, “Wish” was not able to be included in the regular album. Even after he completed “Wish”, his concern was deep because his own style was too strong (in the song). At the end, Prof. Park Junha left the arrangement to another person and participated in the recording. In the recording room, the moment he listened to Kyuhyun’s singing, he thought, “Can this song sound in a touching way like this”. His tears flowed at this thought.” even she said that kyu is good vocalist.
Cassies don't kill me but I think in terms of vocal technique Kyu is better. He has greater stability and that resonance is just wow. But in saying that Junsu has a lot more emotion in his voice :3 Both are great singers in there own rights but Kyu defs has better and more consistent vocal technique ~~~
If we take out subjective personal preference, emotion, facial expressiveness etc and talk about ONLY VOCAL TECHNIQUE, then the answer is perfectly obvious. Yes, it's Kyuhyun
Kyuhyun has the total package though..:-) The quality of his voice is the best.. His posture and facial expression while singing is indeed great.. He is awesome..
People can certainly like a singer more than another, but technical proficiency isn't subjective. Kyuhyun definitely has the upper hand when it comes to that (very few idols even come close). If you like Junsu more for his voice, then that's different and totally acceptable. However, there IS a standard when it comes to who's the better "vocalist" and people need to understand that.
@@jajasatorashi136 ikr, these people trying to use some bs to make their video seem legit. It's always been vocalists like Junsu, Taeyeon, Taeyang, etc that has been regarded as top 3 by the experts. I am pretty sure I would go with those experts rather than this fan made video.
@@mserikatodoh wtf, Taeyang is an average singer and doesn't even come close to the top20 vocalist of k-pop by technical ranking , those knetz or experts are just basing off people's opinions ,check more about the vocal pedagogy world
@@mserikatodoh you can check kpopvocalanalysis web to see extensive explanation that kyuhyun have better technique, but that doesn't mean junsu is bad. In the end it all comes down to personal preference.
@@aahmadfadhilah No technique doesn't come down to personal preferance. Preferance vs vocal technique total different things. When it comes to technique Kyuhyun tops that miles away. Which voice you prefer is totally personal.
Kyuhyun's vocal is the best among idols. He has a wide range yet he doesn't crack nor strain and could hit any notes easily. LOL at people that keeps talking about "emotion". First of all, thats a preference, everyone have different taste. This is why technique is what people look at when judging on who the best vocalist is. Kyuhyun winning isn't something biased. It's a FACT that he's a better vocalist.
Boba Mochi Very well said! Kyuhyun's voice is very clear and powerful...he doesn't crack and hit high notes effortlessly...not irritating to listeners'ears...very pleasant.
Beth Valencia its funny how people bringing up emotion and whatnot when this is about vocal. Just proved that they don't even know what they're talking about lol
Yes but kyuhyun's vocal timbre/tone/color are always on the simpler side.. if you pay attention, wether he sing ballads or dance or even rock songs, he will use the same approach for his vocal color.. while junsu on the other side, his approach on each songs varies.. he keeps evolving his vocal techniques on each songs and you can tell without him changing his vocal character which proof that his vocal techniques are superb.. and him being awarded as best musical actor year after year (not by fan vote, but by professional judge) also proof that he is indeed mastering vocal techniques..
It's not about whose face looks calmer or who can hit the notes without difficulty, it's about the feeling the person gives out when they sing. And the sound of the note they are singing. So in my opinion, Junsu
I think that’s true for pop and the opposite is true for classical singing and other genres. I feel like junsu is better suited for pop and rnb whereas kyuhyun is better suited for broadway and classical singing
Kyu's voice is unique, versatile, addictive, heartwarming & has charisma. Kyu as a vocalist in SJ, singing in chorus & background surely make every SJ songs so enjoyable & soothing to the ears! I first saw & heard Kyu's voice in SJM U & fall in love with his voice till now. To me, he is the best of the best in kpop!
Objectively, I say Kyuhyun much better. Junsu is a good singer too, but Kyuhyun show his deep vocal and full sound in low notes and high notes. He has nice vibrato and good technique. Beside that, Kyu's voice is unique because he has its own characteristics that makes people easy to know that it is Kyu's voice. Oh btw, i love them both, their voive is a gift
I don't know what's the pont in making such videos. Junsu is acknowledged for years being the Best idol vocalist, even ranking of 2015 still put him right on the Top. kyuhyun is absolutely a good singer as well I don't remember to have seen the two competing since kyuhyun is always looking up at Junsu as a great sunbae, but I remember when a veteran musical actor talked about kyuhyun and Yoseob vocal capacities (since both put their feet on musicals) he said they are good but they are not at the Kim Junsu level which sum up all. of course at the end of the day everyone has his own taste when it comes to voice some can prefer junsu other can prefer kyuhyun, but techniques and capacities wise it's undeniable that Junsu is the Best.
Beth Valencia Sorry but I don't think so. TVXQ is an acapella group ( Best acapella Kpop group) and Junsu can sing opera well. He brings his unique charm and powerful emotions in his voice to every song. In Kpop, they call him: Best male singer and Japan too. Kyuhyun is good but not the best.
I hope you didn't mean Opera because Junsu would be horrible if he tried (like pretty much 99% of Kpop singer, Opera is just much, much demanding vocally), in Opera you need tons and tons of resonance from C3-C5 for tenors, which Junsu can't do at all. Junsu is competent and can do good A4 but that's the end of it. Any (for real, any) opera tenor with 1-2 years of training would destroy Junsu technically.
DON'T HATE ME, PLEASE. It's very hard to compare (since Junsu oppa is my first love and always will be). Kyuhyun's vocal range and technique is better than Junsu oppa's when it comes to belting high notes. It is very resonant and stable, he starts a high note strongly, going to a very beautiful vibrato when it's nearing the end of the long note. So in this kind of comparison and field, Kyuhyun is much better. One more thing about Kyuhyun's voice, it can somehow be associated with operatic songs and genres of the like. It sounded wholesome and warm to me. His voice is very classy~ BUT Junsu oppa's voice is really OUT OF THIS WORLD. He can sing every song without any problems, he can make people smile, dance, and cry with his singing even though a lot of people listening do not really understand what the song says, everyone can appreciate his performances whether they're a fan or not, and he can make a shitty song turn into a beautiful one without any visible efforts. Junsu oppa will not be recognized as the number one singer just because of anything. Even until now, he can prove it. ;) Love both of them and both their groups! Hwa~i~ting!~
As someone who's never heard of either, I can objectively say that Kyu is much better. He has even vibrato and a full sound throughout the notes shown, while the other singer tends to strain and thin out, especially around/after A4. It's kind of funny how many people are saying the last guy wins lol, perhaps they like his tone, or think that strain= emotion. Which... It doesn't. Anyway, nice video to the uploader.
Aicha Skander It's cuz I was using the app on my phone, and when you go to comment it doesn't let you see the video or the title, and I didn't feel like exiting out of the comment just to check the spelling of his full name, so I just called him "kyu" haha
Not meaning to be rude or anything but lol if you haven't heard of them, then what are you doing in a little bit obscure kpop video of two singers you're not even a fan of?
I probably commented already but Kyuhyun is one of the most consistent vocalists I've ever heard. His tone and vibrato are beautiful and his control and phrasing really make him shine as a performer. Junsu isn't the best singer in terms of techinique but he's got charisma. Kyuhyun I wouldn't say is emotionless but I will say that he's just old fashioned in terms of his singing and is also displayed in his voice(older ballad style) Junsu is pushing a bit too much for my taste(and my throats taste). As a vocalist Kyuhyun gets my vote.
Kyuhyun is better. there’s a difference between a good vocalist and a good singer so even though Junsu may be a good .singer in your opinion it doesn't mean that he’s a good vocalist.
I really like Kyuhyun's voice. Not just about technique. I remember the first time hearing "7 years of love" and it just stuck to my mind. It made me cry even when I didn't understand the lyric. Maybe i'm crazy or too sensitive but in my opinion, it is the most emotional voice I have ever heard. Surprisingly that his face is pretty calm when singing, haha
Surprisingly, I've been visiting this video on and off to check & re-check my judgement again & again. From the comments I've read seems like its a hot topic for debate. I can't help but to finally satisfy my urge to write a comment here. Firstly lets just say everyone has their own preference and ideas about what a good voice is. But if one has to definitely choose I guess its down to how their singing comes across to the person listening. If it makes you have goosebumps then that person suits your listening ears better. The following is solely my opinion. To begin, even though they so called hold the same role in the group as a lead singer / main vocals depending on the song, their tone of voice is different. Kyuhyun has a clear and whole voice. That tone is the kind to make one feel calm and good. Whereas Junsu while struggling with puberty about his voice ends up with a raspy voice but its so unique that he could mold it to whatever he wants it to be (can sound sexy, angry, sweet, sad, happy, (even creepy as Tod) & whatever other emotions). If over the phone/radio just by speaking/singing I think Kyuhyun's voice will be very much preferred. That's why when Kyuhyun sang 7 Years Love Song, it definitely melts my heart. So if just by listening first impression I would pick Kyuhyun's voice. But…. Since singers are not all on radio, they are visuals as well, this is where the difference comes in. When I first saw Junsu and heard him sing it was a dance song. I was wondering how in the world he had such stamina? But when I heard his ballad, individual or as a group, I must admit there were occasions when I cried even though I don't know much korean. Cos his eyes spoke to me. Recent song to make me cry on the spot was Love Like A Snowflake live for his Musical & Ballad concert. He was emoting it so well that I couldn't help but to be in awe. Because Junsu made such a strong impression visually, it aides in appreciating his unique voice as well. It really depends on the medium that you use to listen to really compare both of them. Anyway arts in this case performing arts in the first place is subjective. And natural element such as "voice" is something we can shaped and not rigid and stiff as to be able to make a black & white decision as to who is better than the other.
Yes, kyuhyun won immortal song but lol last time I've checked, jyj can't even appear on variety shows. Kyuhyun's voice is somewhat more received than Junsu's but that doesn't mean that he has a better voice or a better technique than the latter. And please can we all stop saying what a delulu fangirl the other is because we're all the same. We are all delusional. And because I'm a cassie and a 'delusional one', my vote goes to junsu
Kyuhyun hands down. You could say Junsu's voice is more emotional, but kyuhyun has a way better technique. He never crack nor strain and could hit any notes so easily.
***** For Kyuhyun's fans he is the better, but for Junsu's fans the better is Junsu. This topic is more subjetive than objetive and never have end..... like politic or religion.
Oh lol... it's obvious from this video that kyu can support all high notes properly which make him better than that overrated vocalist from red group :P
I CHOICE KYUHYUN. HE INTRODUCE ME WITH K-POP - i fall in in love with him once i hear he sing korean drama ost and i predict he will be a good and famous singer. something with his voice make you fall in in love straight away also he has a charming personality and witty - his vocal technique is superb. Expert also said so I read Kyuhyun vocal analysis saying that Kyuhyun is set on a path to being not only a good vocalist, but also a good musician, professional and consistent entertainer. HIS Vocal Range - D2 ~ D6 (4 Octaves) WOW amazing
+Jeanny Jones i dont want to compare with Junsu because i fall in love with kyuhyun first - maybe the story will be different if i fall in love with Junsu first - bcs i am the person to put love on top of averything - Sorry Junsu
vocalist = technique => objective singer = everything else (emotions, ... insert your preferences) => subjective (everyone prefers something else) if we are talking about vocalist Kyuhyun is way better. He is the best male vocalist in k-pop
Objectively speaking, without biases, leaving behind emotion and whatsoever, talking about VOCAL TECHNIQUE and VOCAL TECHNIQUE only: Kyuhyun IS better. His techniques are better than Junsu's, and there's no place to deny it. Junsu is a well known artist, he passes so much emotion throughout his music that we can easily like him, he has soul in his voice, but that doesn't mean his TECHNIQUE is better than Kyuhyun's, and that's what this "battle" is about: technical analysis. God, I know that the fans will think Junsu is better because he moves people while singing but please, try to see it from the professional side, like how I'm doing right now. I'm a violinist, I may not know (I don't xD) much about vocal, but I sure know about notes and Kyuhyun's reaches some notes with such a easiness that is amazing, while I see Junsu struggling to reach the same notes; I would be ashamed of that C5 Junsu made, seriously. And again, I'm not talking about the way they express the songs, please be aware of that. Just please, end up this little meaningless fight over something that is clear from the very beginning. Kyuhyun is better than Junsu in vocal techniques.
I prefer Junsu. His voice is more unique and brings more emotion. Kyu is awesome but even though his voice is beautiful it could be confused with tons of other great singers. While Junsu just need to sing a note and you'll know it's him. And the way that Junsu articulates his voice makes it more remarkable than just holding a note for many seconds like Kyu would do.
well I'm not studying music or something and I don't understand C5, F blabla. But I think Junsu's singing sounds better. When he sings, you can feel the song. His husky voice, expressions are touching your heart.. You know singers can be found everwhere but there isn't that much people like Junsu who sings with his soul. So I prefer Junsu!
Let me think again... This video is from early 2013, now 2014... since kyuhyun improved a lot during ss5 and did some musicianships in some performances... and junsu is just there having some good moments and meh moments, some intonation issues at times, still strains in higher belts... it's clear that kyu is better vocalist anytime anyday.
+vaneching so? gimme good notes from junsu from Bb4-C5! newer or older are fine to me. i have not been following junsu for a year(?). even yesung had hitted B4 well even tho not consistent
I cannot tell exactly what the notes actually are, but you can still search break up the shell, the last dance and Mina's Seduction It's Over. There are amazing notes and I dare to say most of the people haven't heard about them. These can clearly prove Junsu's ability. If you prefer Kyuhyun, nvm it's subjective and personal preference but don't drag Junsu down just because you don't like his style.
LoL at those people who "think" Junsu is the better vocalist, you might like him better as a singer, that's your own opinion, it's subjective, you like what you like. I understand that his vocal colour and stylistic choice are liked by a lot of people. But judging a vocalist is based purely on technique, and this is a video comparing the two's mix in the mid range. The fact remains that Kyuhyun remained resonant throughout while Junsu strained his head off. Junsu is a better vocalist than Kyuhyun? Please Junsu isn't even in the same league as Kyuhyun. In fact there are a number of male vocalists that are better than Junsu in Kpop. Sorry if I sound heated but I really hate it when people act like know it alls and discredit the achievement of a vocalist solely based on their own subjective opinion.
lulcKathy out of topic here. but i find kyuhyun looks so cute in 3:10 he looks like a japanese teenager. can anyone tell me from what show is this from?
Xiah Junsu is the best this is why he was chosen to join TVXQ from the beginning , his voice is so strong and he has a lot emotions ....probably the best vocal in the kpop
No hay comparación, kyuhyun tiene una fuerza increíble y su vibrato al terminar cada estrofa es inigualable, su timbre de soprano lo hace sonar muy dulce.
This post is pretty divisive but I'll chime in anyway. Kyuhyun has a better voice. I'm sure there's some technical term for it, but the way he covers his notes and the warmth of his voice makes it superior even though both singers have the same range. There's a strength in K's upper register that just isn't there in Junsu's. Not hatin', just observing.
+patchchat they don't have the same range actually. Kyuhyun's range is 4 octaves (i think he has the widest range in kpop) and junsu's is 3 octaves, 2 notes and 1 semitone
" the way he covers his notes and the warmth of his voice makes it superior even though both singers have the same range" maybe that's not what you meant but that's what you said. it is not a bif deal though ^^
Both have good voices in my opinion. The difference - Junsu's voice is very distinctive and expressive. It's recognizable in different styles of songs but at the same time it adapts and changes with each new style. Kyu's 2 release was bittersweet for me: sweet because his voice sounded amazing, bitter cause he didn't risk to express himself more and some of the songs sounded like continuation of each other.
Based on the this vid, starting B4, Junsu is already straining so unless there’s other better clips from him, I’ll say Kyuhyun has the upperhand technically because of his wider supported vocal range.
Their voices are so different and unique in every perspective. How should I put it? lolz both are my fave vocalists. I have heard many singers that have voices similar as Kyuhun´s voice. but NO ONE has Junsu´s splendid unique delphin mosquito voice with that wide vocal range. So Junsu is the winner for me.
Cryxx ,oh am not planning to agree though, junsu's type light & husky, performance level - puts so much emotions and sings high belts, yesung can compete w/ junsu on that !! Both type of voice, not really similar but quite similar, performance level same .. so can u really say junsu has unique voice? Special i may be but not unique ..
Geraldine Nombra What I mean about unique voice is how Junsu SOUND like. Are you kidding? Junsu and Yesung sound totally different. Yesung has the kind of the voice as a deep low(manly) powerful voice like Hwanhee from Fly To The Sky. I address the word special and unique equivalent: Unique in a special way~
Cryxx ,ok if u find junsu's voice unique i think i'll just give it to u since liking or not liking someones vocal color or vocal tone is subjective .. & i did not say that junsu's & yesung's voice are exactly similar .. as far as i can remember i did say quite similar, QUITE SIMILAR .. pls check again what did i say exactly
smh at some Junsu fans here that trying to belittle Kyuhyun's singing ability. If his fans says that he's better then that's their right to voice their opinion. For me personally I like Kyuhyun better. His voice is clear and warm while Junsu's is squeaky and kinda unpleasant to hear. I'm not saying that Junsu is not a great vocalist but that's my preference and opinion about his voice.
ItFeelssoReal so Heechul, Leeteuk,Siwon,Shindong,Eunhyuk,Kangin's voices are better than Jaejoong,Junsu Changmin's voice? huh and actually he had bass voice
Kyuhyun is a very good singer and choosing best is a very objective matter but A BIG BUT Junsu has more one times in fact If i am not wrong every time been chosen as the best idol singer by musician experts who analyse the technique, vocal ability and emotion in singing. Saying that I personally think that Junsu is the best too.. because when you listen him singing you can feel the message the lyric is trying to give because of the way Junsu sings which is very expressive. People who are saying he is making an uncomfortable facial expression or straining while making high note, I would say that is called singing with emotions I would rather see such performance than someone singing with no expression like a robot.
***** watch?v=_2rWKmga3CM [NEWS] 120622 100 idols picked Kim Junsu for best singing ability static3.allkpop.com/article/2010/08/xiah-junsu-is-chosen-as-the-best-male-idol-singer-again#axzz2qJ9JdfNq
***** i have got more 'cassias delulu' who happens to be expert in music field's opinions if you wish more.. they certainly examine objectively than you
Jamuna Pun Like, i can understand the video... but that idol survey thing, like, really? Most idols know as much about singing as any other commom person who knows nothing about it.
Kyuhyun has better skill in his singing and that's pretty much recognisable even to the untrained ear. However, some may still prefer Junsu's singing over his and that's completely allowed. But ya'll need to drop this assertion that Kyuhyun sings without emotion. It's your opinion, it's not fact. A lot of people would in fact disagree with such a statement. Quite emphatically actually. For instance Park Junha, the composer of the song "Wish" that Junsu and Kyuhyun (along with Changmin and Ryeowook) recorded for TVXQ's repackaged Mirotic album specifically picked Kyuhyun as the singer who can express well in his singing and was touched by it to the point that he was in tears during the recording of said song. Now him saying this obviously should not make anyone else's mind for them. His just an opinion like yours and mine. But let us not pretend that Kyuhyun can't emote. It just simply isn't true.
"Kyuhyun has better skill in his singing and that's pretty much recognizable even to the untrained ea" I agree I'm nowhere a musical expert but before I watched this video I already knew Kyuhyun has great vocal technique. It's just... recognizable as you've said especially during live.
kyu? and common doesn't match in the same sentence... common if you have vocalists with the same tone ... well jusnu reminds me of yesung they both have airy husky voice .. this is when you call it a common voice can you give me a singer who sounds like kyu ? or even the same tone ?
Ok, I actually got to this vid because of a vocal analysis thingy on the net and saw Junsu stans were mad, and then... I don't get it? Kyu is my bias but I know Junsu's voice since Mirotic is one of the songs on my Kpop-repeat-to-infinity song lists xD. Without having to click play, I knew how they'd both sound like and I still don't get why Junsu stans would be mad at this? Unless something happened here in the comments section then Idk because I won't want to read it xD. Or because Junsu looked so pained singing the higher notes while Kyu, not so much? Because from what I know, that's just the style/way they sing and to my ears, they both hit their notes. Only difference is, Kyu's voice sounded more full in every note.
DBSK are the kings and this is my opinion... and these both singers are/was the best singers SM ever had. There is Yoseob from B2st or Changmin and Jaejoong. Yeah there is Chen and Baekki from EXO and some more. But im still dissappointed that the younger the idols get, the more the agencies look at their face then at their vocal skills
