You've done a marvellous job on the 750; it looks and sounds great. Back in the 70s no one cared for that bike, it looked overweight and underpowered and it was "only" a twin, but you've made it into something quite desirable.

Re. Moto camping. A top quality tent. I use a Hilleberg. Sleeping bag. I use a Rab Premier Light 500. Weighs half a kilo and packs away to the size of a bag of sugar. A sleeping mat. I use a Thermarest self inflating mat. All three of these items are expensive, but I have been bike camping for over 35 years now, and good kit makes life a lot easier at the end of a long days' ride!

KZ-750 Alright! That ride took me back to the oil field roads around Conroe Texas. 1971ish on a "don't dare laugh" 175 two-stroke twin Bridgestone scrambler. Thanks very much for sharing the ride/build.

I ran K&N pods on my H1 and H2. Increased main jet size and both bikes ran fine (with expansion chambers.)
@OldMotorcycleAdventures

I've had pods on my 750 with stock jets for a number of years. When I first got the bike, I just graduated high school. I was young and dumb, and got rid of the stock airbox. The bike runs fine in higher RPMs, but the idle has always been off. Sounds like it's on one cylinder sometimes, backfiring, etc. Glad you listed your carb specs, I will be trying to dial mine in finally
@craigpennington1251
@craigpennington1251 5 лет назад
You need some side covers under the seat area the same color as the tank. You also need to bring that rear fender all the way down to the swing arm in front to keep all the guck from splashing your engine and carb air filters. Over all, the bike looks cool.
@chrishorbatt3504
@chrishorbatt3504 5 лет назад
I just ran across this vidio bike looks really good. Pod filters are always a problem unless you get the jetting right, which sounds like you did. Any time you build something your going to get people saying your doing it wrong, been there done that,doesn't hurt to listen but don't change course based on it.

I have no tools no garage, I’m 52 years old and disabled so I don’t care about using a clutch even though I grew up on dirt I can ride a hand clutch,,, mine is built into the crank and you just shift one low and one high gear!!!! I need my bike at 406 curb weight to loose weight because of my back issues!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for your videos they inspire me!!! If you won’t do my build I’ll eventually go elsewhere but I would rather have you!!! I like your work and I know you know old Honda motorcycles

I really like it.. Looks like it could benefit from some sort of inner fender in the rear to keep the tire from flinging crap onto the carbs . Kawasaki should reintroduce the KZ750 as a scrambler to compete with the new Triumphs. Good looking bike.

Youd did an awesome job with that bike Taylor........congrats. When you talk about "moto camping", we do something similar, but different up here in Canada. My friends and I have adventure bikes. My current ride is a Suzuki V-Strom 1000. We head out for a week and hit highways and a few back roads, camp some and stay in motels. Mostly motels. Mostly highways cause our bikes aren't really set up for backroading too much. Still fun though. Ride safe

Hammock + mosquis. net + tarp above for rain (Pretty small package). 3 season sleeping bag + sleeping pad + rain cover motorcycle. I did look up tents, they are too big for motorcycle. Or cut down hammock. Only use tarp + sleeping bag and pad. Using Highlander Nomad Hammock, Pinguin Micra sleeping bag, Pinguun Sherpa 30. I am from Europe. Did weld frames for 2 .50 ammo boxes for my cheap Chinesse Cafe racer. All around tyres for light terrain. Good luck.

People fix gas tank pinholes by lining with POR15 so I wonder if dipping the floats in that would work as well. Just an idea for next time you run up against leaky expensive floats.. if you are about to toss the old floats, might as well try it.

your right about the carbs, dont listen to the nay sayers. Ive put pods on 4 different KZ motorcycles and a Honda, each one was a different size and year. With the right jetting they all ran as good or better than with the air box. Sometimes its UNI filters other times its K&N, but theres ALWAYS a combination in my experience.

Only other question I have is how much debris ended up on top of the crank case? Keep up the solid work, Taylor!

Id like to see you do a full on dirt bike, something that would REALLY rip off road, maybe a 1974-1978 Honda XL 350 with a 412 big bore kit. or a 1970s Kawasaki two stroke three cylinder 750, completely stripped down, with upswept expansion chambers, stiffer, longer travel suspension, lower gearing and high fenders. A Kawasaki two stroke 750 street tracker done like a Harley XR 750 flat track bike would also be awesome.

For 8 vids I was willing these too be removed not much of a weight save just pig ugly and while you were at it the main stand brackets for height clearance.
