Thank you for the video on this new instrument. Boxwood was notorious for cracking no doubt you have done something to the ward to stop this. - Bill - UK

What was the piece of music he was playing? I have heard it so many times, but never learned what it was called. Thanks!

It’s the Mozart Clarinet Concerto (first excerpt was third movement, second was the second movement)

Would love to try a pair of these but no sign of them in the UK as yet. I wonder how stable they are and particularly the situation with cracking. I understand that the toneholes have liners so that will doubtless help. If Buffet monitor this perhaps you can guide me to somewhere I can try and buy.

more than cracking... warping might be an issue.

@@Oscar_clarinet Exactly! Warping is the problem - we who play the historical clarinets know all about this. A serious issue

For the Chamber music and studio recording: yes, it will be perfect. For all other settings, especially orchestral playing, it won't cut it due to the lack of ping.

Nice instrument for some repertoire (as demonstrated). But it would not be my everyday play.

Very nice to play mais il a l'air si fermé... Question du choix du bec aussi. Après, je n'accroche pas le musicien.

Well the clarinet is only the wehicle - the sound comes from the player. You can make great Music with a plastic clarinet as long as it seals. And the clarinet doesn’t play in tune YOU still need to do it. And what I hear here is a very hollow sound on the surface, no depth- AND the tuning is a bit high - it doesn’t blend with the group. No 1 play in tune / not to low not to high but on spot with the group then we are all happy.

A another one clarinet... You are the musician. Not the clarinet. So. Choose your professional clarinet based on your personal choice Wood won't change anything at all. It will accompany You and nothing else. I'm listening to this musician. The sound is not beautiful and pleasant It saturates in the breath without developing the sound completely. It's advertising. But the choice will always be personal.

What exactly is your definition of "not beautiful and pleasant"? Isn't that just your very own personal concept of sound as well? Why are you trying to apply it onto Olivier Patey's way of sound? The same way goes for Olivier's personal choice. He chooses it because it is the specific type of sound that he was looking for, not just for showing off. I personally find it very much beautiful and pleasant.
