Lothur is absolutely numero uno when it comes to shaving soap. Nothing out there matches the post shave and feel of it, nothing, not A&E and not even Zingari. It's the best, and that's the V1 base I'm talking about, V2 was unnecessary imo. But I'll check it out on this scent.

My paternal grandparents house was built in 1880. The bathroom downstairs was added to the kitchen years later by the original owners. The house huge for one built in that era and they originally rented the downstairs while another family had the upper level. Sometime in the late 30's, they bought the house from the woman that owned it. The bathroom sink has separate "taps" meaning their is one spout for the hot water and one for the cold water. I have seen pictures with sinks in the UK like that. Faucets have a manifold or an ability to mix the hot and cold, with the water coming out a single spout. The tubs are huge and you can lie completely down in them and I am six foot 😂

Nicely done Sir Kevy💈💈 Yes, 1940's Super Speed, I have a couple of these, excellent razors for their age. This soap, Lothur, seems to be a quality product, lathers well with proper hydration. Nice and smooth with no issues, can't ask for more than that. Great video and review, thanks. You and the family stay well now, no more of this virus scare thing... Enjoy!

Great shave. Sgrdddy is also heavily involved in a Reddit wet shaving group I belong to. He’s cool to talk to, and he boasts one of the largest vintage razor collections you’ll ever see. I don’t worry too much about the overhang in razors, especially the vintage Gillette razors. They’re just there, I guess, and that doesn’t bother me a lot. Have a good one!

Greetings Kevy. I am so happy and pleased that the Superspeed I sent you provides such a satisfactory shave. I feel Gillette made a winner in this 40s model, such that succeeding Superspeeds scarcely could improve upon it. These endure the ages and remain excellent shavers. The Lothur soap sounds like one I'll need to try, with such an appealing scent. Like many of us, I have much more soap that I can hope to use up in my lifetime! Cheers. 😉

Awesome shave mate. I like to trim the blade end tabs when using my SuperSpeed as tabs stick out a bit too far for my comfort. Lothur definitely makes a great looking lather. Longevity of a modern razor would depend on what materials and coatings is made of, like Zamak razors may not last a lifetime but I would think a Stainless Steel razor to last generations. Take care and have a great week Kevy .

Fantastic shave Kevy. As soon as you opened the tub I paused you and went straight to the Løthur site and ordered the soap and splash ( not many left), I’m so impressed with their soaps l had to have it! Having watched you review Southern Witchcraft products in the past, which I also own, I now know I like dark Smokey Oudy scents and can’t wait to try Løthur’s new scent. If you’re at a department store Kevy, try a sample spray of Tom Fords Ombré Leather. That will blow you away! I wish they made a shave soap to match. Take care

Thanks for the video sir. I am a fan of vintage Gillette razors because, like you said, they are so well built. I have a number of them and, even when the plating starts to fail, they still provide a great shave. I have also had good shaves with those blades as well. Great stuff!

Crackin' shave, Kevy! You probably already know how much I love those vintage razors, but man, it's amazing to me still just how well an old, common razor like the Superspeed can shave even today. Very nice! Sgrdddy is one of my closest "colleagues" here in the states. "Passionate" is a good way to describe him :)

I was lucky enough to sit and share a pint with Jonny a few months back and we discussed his soaps and the scent strength. He is a lovely Guy and I'm happy to say he was receptive to constructive critism of his first batches when it came to scent strength. Namkah was supposed to be a different scent, badsed upon Tom Fords Ombre Leather but the scent strength wouldn't pass the stringent Euro testing so he changed the scent and released Namkah. I'm due to go for a pint with him again in a few weeks and I know he has some wonderful scents in the pipeline. Great Soap from a great Bloke.

Hi Kevy, Voskhod (sunrise), no K in the pronunciation and the final "d" sounds more like a "t" I don't speak russian at all but i used google translate to know how to pronounce Voskhod :-) Nice shave, this soap seems wonderful ! What a blessed time for wet shavers ( my wife don't agree 😃 )

I am an excellent bowl-lathering kind of guy. Here's what you do. 1) Measure a level 1/8 tsp of shave soap. 2) Mash the soap into the bottom of the lathering bowl. 3) Add 2 tsp (10 mL) of warm water. 4) With your finger, turn the soap into a slurry. 5) With a slightly damp synthetic brush, begin to SLOWLY agitate the slurry in a clockwise or counterclockwise fashion (whichever works best for you). 6) For the first 30-45 seconds, it will appear as if nothing is happening. After about 45 seconds it will begin to turn into a great lather. Slowly increase the speed of your agitation (rotations). The Lothur soap makes an incredible lather using this method. In fact, I have used this exact method with 2 other soaps and the results are the same. It is best if the soaps are slightly softer and easy to measure. If you use this method, you will have plenty of soap for a 3-pass shave and face wash. In addition. your 4 oz (115 g ) tub will last you for about 180 shaves. Try it. It works. There you go, I have shared the secret recipe that I have been tweaking over the past 10 months. You won't believe how far 1/8 tsp of soap will go. The reason I use this method is twofold: First, I hate the idea of contaminating my soap with a brush. Second, I am a cheap bastard (of Scottish heritage) and love saving money trying to stretch out my shave soaps for as long as possible.
@robertross8565

By the way, 1/8 tsp is also known as a "DASH" in the Imperial measurement system.

Good video Kevy, the Superspeed is a useful razor for the daily shavers, very mild but doing good his job. A question: have you got a brush that stinks from glue? Great video Kevy! I used Lothur Oregon for the 1st time today, very beautiful soap & nourishing splash, the only thing is the scent was almost none existent which really disappointed me. Mine is the V2 base too. I want to try Namkha as the scent profile sounds lovely, but if the scent is as weak as Oregon I'll give it a miss. Would you say its worth a punt & do you find the scent strong & more present than Oregon? I like strong scents as the scent is a huge part of what makes a shave special to me. The Oregon splash felt lovely but honestly I smelt nothing, had I of know this I'd not have bought it :( Cheers :)

I'm a big fan of Sugardaddy, he's really scientific in his approach and also used a Nacet for 145 shaves. But why? Who knows. I'll try this soap. I had the version one Tears but, as you say, very weak scent, so I've moved it on. This looks great for lather and anything with oud is my type of scent. I think that the thing about Sugardaddy is that he has no gimick. A lot of RU-vidrs try a catchphrase or a gimick of some kind. It's really really naff. Others just seem to be aggressive coke freaks. They make me tired just watching them. Nice one Kevy, see you next time.
