Commissioned by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former emir of Qatar, the 124.4-metre Lürssen superyacht Katara was launched as Project Crystal by the German shipyard in 2010. The Qatari-flagged superyacht ranks as one of the largest and most private yachts in the world. She features exterior design by Monaco-based Espen Øino International, while her interior is the work of the late Parisian designer Alberto Pinto.
With a volume of 8,010 GT, Katara received extensive exterior and interior works at Nobiskrug in 2022. The refit included a new paint job, a full refurbishment of engines and generators, some interior works and many other modifications and upgrades.
