The Greater Los Angeles Air Raid of 1942 www.theairraid.com/ A little trip me and my editor went to thought it would be nice to post! Editors Notes: Thanks to Fort MacArthur Museum for doing another amazing job!
I’ve been to this event multiple times. And yes I’ve stood next to the Chrysler before, and god damn, even with double hearing protection on, it still made my ears ring and gave me a headache. It also had the deepest bass ever at low rpm, it was EXTREMELY punchy.
Its awesome they reenact this. This was very real 1941/1942. One false alarm and the skys lit up. Those searchlights would find bombers, focus on them, and the AA guns would light them the fuck up. No joke. Its insane
Too bad the guy on the microphone didn't go along with the reenactment and was like: "All personnel to your battle stations. Enemy planes approaching base." Would've been a bit more immersive.
At 0:19 you see one of the original air raid sirens that are was originally used in los Angeles. It was just relocated. It is in the dead center of the video.
Gosh that Chrysler sounds insane from a distance! Hope to be filming it one day as well as the 500T. Also it COMPLETELY drowns out the 500 and makes it seem like a Thunderbolt without it’s blower running at like 200 feet facing you
Almost 2mins to kill the all the lights wayyyyy to slow that should of been the very first thing before the sirens you have to kill all the light to prevent bomber from getting a bearing on the target.
I dont understand why some people think this is real and dont read the description or realize that its a reenactment from a event that happened during ww2
