We Aussies can't claim them (though we'd love to) they are a New Zealand band (Not part of Australia). It's like saying Canada and USA are same they Different. Maybe some similarities but independent countries (neighbours)
No no no... Not Aussies. I love my Aussie musicians as much as you - they are incredible but L.A.B, Stan Walker and Six 60 are all from NZ. The Drax Project are New Zealanders too :)

Kiwi band, they don't just do Soul, RnB & Funk, they also do Blues, Rock or Country and blend it with our laid back kiwi culture and Island/Reggae rhythms.
It's said as letters L.A.B. but the origin of the name is from being a creative laboratory so you're kinda right with both. It was started by Stu & Brad Kora (from band KORA) who then brought in Joel (singer) & Ara (former bassist from KATCHAFIRE). Kora & Katchafire both well known roots-reggae-funk bands in NZ, so a lot of L.A.Bs other songs are more in that genre.
BTW: you can tell NZ groups from Ozzie ones because there's often a roots/gospel/rnb element & there'll be Polynesians in it. The RNZ icon in the corner helps too 😉
@@serahnkahukura8433 lab began as a covers band when the original lab music wasn't going anywhere between Laughton and Brad hence the name L. A. B. Then it still. Became a covers band with the intro of Joel and Richie in the band fran kora and tait kora.

Oh you need to hear them play ‘Rocketship’ live. Totally different sound. Amazing reggae influences!! Then switch to ‘My Brother’ fantastic funk. Such a versatile band. Kiwi love for music at their best!

Walk right up like water Bang bang She is mesmerising and has true empathy a great human/singer with an amazing voice
a good friend pointed me to this, just a short while ago. So I consider this a 2024 new song. And I strongly doubt that there will be a better one this year. What a band! I had no idea. When I looked it up, they were ranked as a reggae band. But that is just part of their overall music. This song is a gem!
