There should be a story or movie about L. A Reid and Baby Face from school age up until and through their musical careers. What a great inspiration that would be for young boys and girls from around the world from all ethnic backgrounds.

Of course half the book is Babyface & Pebbles, i didnt realize how their careers were so interwovin. They La&Face were broke niggas when they offerred her the song, she gave them each a car, jag n a benz. Mr Reid had asbsolutely nothing when he met her, they got tons of work off the girlfriend single. He went on to say they hung out at her "plush condo" daily. He knew her husband said she was well off & lived in a mansion in san fransico. Another blinded by passion woman who helped put others "on" and expected nothing in return, got nothing. Honestly, I believe Vanessa Williams would have tore the song Girlfriend up, but like L.A said, that song was Pebbles. Girlfriend was the signature song of Pebbles' career.

The song "Girlfriend" was made perfectly for Vanessa Williams' voice, although Pebbles sang it! I know it hurt Vanessa's feelings, especially after the way the Miss America pageant ditched her, and how the public unreasonably criticized her for some photos an evil photographer released without her consent. LA Reid was wrong for that! However, Vanessa's successful career, far above Pebbles, was the sweetest revenge!! Hmmm... Pebbles who?? Lol

LA Reid and Babyface ( before their success) were young men who never got no play and was not most women's type ( especially black women) so naturally when one strikes gold ( making money) all the things you never had ( pretty women...nice cars... beautiful homes...etc) are now "accessible". Most men usually fall victim because it's something that they never experienced? What men don't know is when you meet a pretty woman....the last thing you wanna do is compliment her on how beautiful she is.......she's heard that all her life and they know this already. In Pebble's case....she's a Oakland Pimpstress and L.A. Reid was out of his league trying to pursue her? Strip away all the music, success , money and accessibility from L.A. The trash part is that after Vanessa and LA shook hands, she had to find out from other people that he gave the song to Pebbles. That's the real reason why she never talked to him again. LA is always caught up in some shadiness with business... like those fake Michael Jackson songs.

I need to finish reading his bio. Pebbles was the girl back in the day. I liked Vanessa, but I do not see her taking "Girlfriend" to the top of the charts. LaFace was diabolical back in the day. Do not get it twisted. Pebbles is hood with class. Royalty-free "Always" gets curved. It is all good.
Vanessa would have sang song as good or better than Pebbles. Reid got laid with Pebbles and there you have it. Vanessa wasn't about that, so they moved on with the song.
They have similar voices, but Vanessa's is more trained and refined because she studied music. I could see her singing it, but Pebbles did the song justice because it required a bit of edge to it

I worked for him and then wife pebbles as their chef. Monsters! I helped la lose alot of weight, but he'd sneak food. Oh the fights that went on between those two.

If you tread his book she had money he was hooked by how she handles herself and showed him things about class and how to be in business and networking. She was married and divorced her husband so it wasn’t a gold digger situation because her husband wasn’t broke he had money.
