i cried alittle when he said they'll be doing their solo projects after the world tour.. dont get me wrong, i like vamps and all... but if i got to choose, i'd rather have more singles from l'arc!
He understands it well enough to understand the interviewer. He did his first solo album (Roentgen) in English and Japanese, but I get the impression he's only started taking his english seriously when Vamps was getting ready to do their world tour a few summers ago. When I saw him in Baltimore I got to shake his hand, and his english is pretty damn good.
I always found it hilarious that 90% of Japanese songs seem to have what I call "the obligatory English line" in them, where they go on and on, likely us, the listener, not understanding what's said, until out of nowhere they shout something like, "I love you with all my heart!" and then return back to Japanese, XD! Imagine if English songs were the same way..."Aishiteru, my love...oyasumi." (That...sounds kinda sexy. Now, if I could get Hyde to say that :)
he can obviously and definitely express himself better in Japanese. which is why he responded to each question in Japanese, so that he can give good answers instead of half-assed ones. i don't think it's about him being difficult. in fact it shows his sincerity.
His answers is really good. He speaks with honesty, i must say. Most rock bands usually answers interviews with some very philosophically answers, which I find weird.
well no surprise for solo projects there. this is the pattern now. but still, it's gona be hard not to see L'arc after World Tour is over ;_; anyway, i'm truly glad L'arc has gained recognition. and i don't care if they gona break into mainstream US market or not, L'arc already got huge loyal fanbase from all over the world - strong enough to keep them going and fill up the concert halls. i'm proud of them :)
+Hurtado Raffo Tito Make up doesn't help other over 40 year old artists much. He does look young, naturally. His facial structure still looks like that of a teen.
***** That's just one picture. Pictures don't really show reality, I have pictures of me where I look 10 years older or younger depending on the light. One question, why doesn't make up help other +40 year olds? With make up you can hide wrinkles but what really matters is the bone structure. That you can't cover. Also in the picture you sent me he does wear a lot of make up. It's just a bad picture really.
***** My argument from before still stands. One picture really doesn't say anything. And his facial structure is very petite. If make up is that great why do 99.9% of 40 year old celebrities look 40 lol I'm sure Hyde has wrinkles under the make up but I really don't care much about that because looking that young with make up is still an admirable thing. The other members of the band do look their age despite make up. But well who cares, I'd like Hyde even if he looked 80.
***** I'm talking about Japanese people. I'm sorry but his facial structure does not look 40, compare him to the other members of his band or other japanese celebs at that age. He has a very small jaw and short nose (yes even for japanese) and this child like wave going from his forehead to his nose. This is what makes him look young. His face in general is very small.
Obviously his lyrics translators are Lynne Hobday and Anis. This, my friend, you can find in his album jacket. It has every name contributing to the album production, including his English translators. I found it in HYDE's FAITH (2006) album.
HE was lame. OF all the questions one can ask when sitting in front of ROck royalty from Japan and he is like...UHm.... DO some research FFS. The music industry has a level of outsiders NOT welcome. Look how long it took X Japan to get a foothold. Western success is not about the Asian bands not pushing hard enough. It is about the industry being closed off and xenophobic.
Most amazing concert. I saw VAMPS a few years ago in Baltimore, and it was great, but I've gotta say L'Arc is my favorite. It's so sad all the hiatuses they keep going on. T_T
Someone else answered my question some time ago :) He had a woman from England I believe that helped him with the translations for Roentgen. Which answered my initial inquiry as to if Hyde could possibly understand English but was poor with speaking it. I'm certain he does fine with small statements but there's definitely a translator here in this video. That's why the camera never shows from an angle across from Hyde as that's where the translator is sitting.
Pookie Gibson I think they wanted the interview to be comprehensive. He might know english in a small conversation sense, but he might not be good at in-depth questions and terms used in interviews
I had a feeling they might go back to their solo projects >.< But on the bright side, let's hope they would all consider stopping in US for their solo tour concerts!!!
going solo again after world tour?? geez.. then when they will go around the world again? 25th anniversary?? I really hope it's not that long.. At least I hope they will make some singles under L'arc~en~Ciel name even though they're going on their individual projects..
I don't like their hiatuses either, but I think it's a necessary evil... I don't want them to get tired of performing with each other and stop making new music / touring together T_T
This interviewer was pretty bad. He acted nervous and made some stupid comments ("It sounds French"...uh, duh). Plus, did they rly have to dub over Hyde's voice? It irritates me that they think we would prefer that over reading subtitles.
I wonder if they has a translator for Hyde to understand the questions. Man, what a tedious process. The interviewer's question would have to be translated, then Hyde answers and that has to be translated (reminds me of how Mineko Iwasaki, the geiko, described the time she was invited to a banquet held for the queen of England and how between not being able to speak English, she wasn't even allowed to speak directly to her). So...for Roentgen, is it? Who did the English translations?
A female english voiceover for Hyde? TT_TT no, just no! Why didn't forbes interview Tetsuya???? TETSUYA IS THE LEADER OF THE BAND! On the voice over note, why not have a male voice over?!?!??!?! *holds up sign: Interview Laruku as a whole*
Oh my! I never follow the lives of the band members, so don't persecute me, but did they really end up splitting to do their own projects up after the world tour? I hope it's not permanent… :(
they've been doing that for years now. They don't split, they put L'arc in pause, work on some solo projects because they like it and then come back as L'arc again. They need to have time to do many things you know :D before Vamps, for example, Hyde had, well, his solo project as Hyde. So as the other mebmbers
Oh good! i like that they don't break up for good. It's nice that they understand that each member wants to pursue their own passions and they make time for it without splitting up for good. If they did that, I'd have to crawl under a rock and never come out!
Geez more solo work -__- well i hope its not another FOUR YEARS again cause they just got back together and now its hiatus again. I was hoping he'd say next is the Butterfly tour or something like that.
okayyyyy is hyde being deliberately difficult?? ive heard him speak and sing in english and doesnt his wife speak english so whats up with the non-english?
