That was very interesting. Especially comparing language learning with learning to drive a car. I know 8 languages and speak 6 of them. I'm learning French by myself, because I don't want to pay a teacher and as an experiment. Teachers are useful for language learning. But anyway, I need to do most of the work by myself. I don't need a teacher to read a textbook to me. I can do it myself. A teacher is useful for answering some questions. But the answers can be googled and ChatGTP also helps. Or I can just find a student who reached a level that is better than mine. A student with A1 is very helpful when I start from zero. Movies and books are input, but they surely are not comprehensible until B2. There are some comprehensible input videos, but they are very boring and look more like standard lessons. And Krashen says that input must be not only comprehensible, but compelling. But it is very hard to find input that is comprehensible and interesting. Even if you find a few videos, it is not enough. So in reality, there is no such thing as comprehensible input until B2. And if you reach B2, you don't need Krashen's advices. The theory sounds great, but doesn't work in real life. Input is very useful for speaking. Sometimes I use phrases in foreign languages that have grammar, that I definitely did not learn with textbooks. Then I google that phrase and it is correct.
