D'après ce que j'ai compris la genèse LUBA commence au 15è-16è siècle avec Mbidi père de Ilunga Mbidi. D’où étaient -t-ils originaires? Quel groupe ethnique? Mbidi est retourné chez lui, personne ne connait ce qu'il devenu? On apprend toujours.

Bien! J'ai appris récemment que mon peuple Nzebi(Gabon) est originaire du Kasaï et partage beaucoup de points avec les Baluba. J'ai pu moi-même constater les similitudes avec les noms des personnes et des localités, sans oublier la danse Mutuashi qui s'apparente à un mélange des danses Ikoku(PUNU du Gabon) et L'ngwala(Nzebi). Quelqu'un pourrait-il m'en apprendre un peu plus ou me donner des orientations quant à la documentation que je pourrais consulter pour approfondir mes recherches?

Cher Kadiombo ici est une histoire reduite du commencement des Baluba: en Anglais The history of the Luba Empire as at present known commences about the middle of the seventeenth century. At that time there were no kings, and no necromancers in the country. The people were called Kalanga, and had lighter skins than the present Luba (To-day there are two sections of the country peopled by those who call themselves « Bakalanga », but it would seem that these are names of more modern origin, given because these clans excelled at cooking rather than at iron work.). The Kalanga only paid tribute to spirits, supposed to reside in certain trees and rocks. Most famous among these was Mpanga Maloba, a rock still venerated as the home of a spirit. The country was very sparsely populated. Strangers were generally killed at sight, and the unit seemed to be of family rather than of clan or tribe, as we understand these terms. A man named Nindo, with his wife Zwibi, were regarded as the protectors of this « vidye », or spirit. Their son Kalui became discontented however, that they should venerate and worship that which gave no gesture or sound in return. Thus one day he approached the rock in which the spirit Mpanga Maloba was believed to reside, and asked him to « take hold » of a man, instead of living in unresponsive stone. The spirit is said to have heard, and to have taken u p his abode in the body of a man named « Mijibu », or « Minjibu », generally referred to as Mijibu wa Kalenge, who thenceforward became the mouthpiece of the dead to the living. At this time, there lived, near Lake Boya, a fisherman named Muleya Monga (son of the still famous Banze Mpuya, hyena of the Kalanga, whose spirit is supposed to be perpetuated in the necromancers named after his sons Umba and Monga.). Muleya had two wives, Mwamba Masungo (also named Ndai Buya), and Kaseya. Mwamba bore three children, a boy named Nkongolo, and two girls, named Mabela and Bulanda, often called after their mother Mabelandai, and Bulandandai. Nkongolo's prenatal name was Kumwimba, but at his birth he was seen to be so unusually light-skinned that they christened him « the Rainbow ». Kaseya was the mother of one daughter, Sungu, generally called after her mother Sungu wa Kaseya. One day the lad Nkongolo saw some black army-ants carrying off white termites, and he asked his parents « How can the black army-ants, who are so few, subdue the termites, who are so many ? ». Muleya replied that it was because the army-ants work in bands, and know no mercy. « Then I too will have a band, and I also will be merciless », determined Nkongolo. He gathered around him a band of lads, but was so tyrannical that for a time he was driven away from Lake Boya. Later he returned, and, chiefly by following the advice of the necromancer Mijibu, he gained the ascendency over the people about him. Most extraordinary tales are told of his brutality, and disregard for human life. He trusted nobody, mastered everybody, and eventually became a sort of headman, with a small army of warriors at his command. Since he saw that other men were influenced by their wives, and sometimes their power was weakened, he determined not to marry outside his own family, and thus took his half-sister Sungu wa Kaseya to wife. She bore him a son Bunda. About the same time, far to the East, there lived a man calling himself chief of the Bupemba. His names were Ilunga the hunter, Sango wa Mpemba, Mwenge wa Ngalaba. (Is he the same man as « Mwenge wa Mato ?) His capital was Membe, probably situated on the the Moba River, not far from the present site of Baudouinville, though some say that he came from the East side of Tanganyika. This Ilunga Kiluwe had two sons, Mbidikiluwe, and Ndala, and a daughter Mwanana, of whom he was extremely fond. Ilunga was growing old, and he wished to appoint his daughter as his successor, while his subjects determined to have Mbidikiluwe for their chief, telling the girl plainly that they would not tolerate her as their ruler. She had a pet lion, and one day, when Mbidikiluwe was playing with it, the animal escaped. His sister, in a fit of anger, and with jealousy in her heart, told him that unless he recaptured it, she would ask her father to have him killed. At this time Ndala was only a little boy. Mbidikiluwe took with him ten of his wives, and sixty slaves, being accompanied by his son Mwema Mwimbi, and leaving his older son Bumbwembidi to care for his estate in his absence. They set off in the tracks of the lion till they crossed the Lualaba River, and lost the spoor on the Kabanaza Plains, among other numerous lion spoor. Mbidikiluwe found abundance of game on the Lovoi, and hunted along its banks till he came to the Kiankodi, killing animals and people indiscriminately

Papa Kadiombo, j’ai lu une source qui disait que les Luba descendent de Kongolo muanza mais pas Muamba. Un chef qui avait organisé les différentes chefferies en un grand royaume. Ilunga Mbidi ( un chasseur venu du Tanganyika) se serait déplacer pour épouser 2 sœurs( mabela et bulanda )de Nkongolo Muanza. Il aurait eu 2 enfants( Ilunga Kalala, et mabela un enfant de chaque épouse. Donc Ilunga kalala va renverser Kongolo muanza pour devenir un nouveau grand chef. Son demi-frère (kisulu mabela)lui serait le fondateur de l’empire lunda.
