It's true sir, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar's Barna Parichay is still used in Bengal schools for elementary education. I studied the same book and stories to learn Bengali. Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar's original name was Ishwar Chandra Bandyopadhyay or Banerjee. 1 correction the pronunciation of Bethune is Bethun, the e is silent, my aunty studied there. Rest sir, you simply made me relive the History by the way you narrate. I'm a history, civics and political science mad guy, originally from Bengal, now settled in Pune.

The Book Barnaparichoy is the foundation of modern Bengali literature & language. It is highly sought out whether Rabindra Thakur's works would be where they are now, if it hadn't been for this book. Even kids today in pre-school and primary schools read this book extensively for 2-3 years. And it might remain like this for another 100 years.

Yes sir it's absolutely right sir, my learning started by the books of great विद्यासागर when I was hardly 3 years old, "Barnaparichaya" "Prathambhag" "Dityabhag" are the books by which the elementary education of a bengali medium student starts, This books are mainly related with the besic letter of bengali language, spelling, Some moral story, some knowledge of moral principal, and also the personality development of a child.

I'm from Bengal! Yes, we do still have "BARNA PARICHAY" in our elementary schools. this book is the basic grammar book for Bengali. Other books are there,but his book is written in such a simple language that over decades there are still no such competitive substitute of this book.

Yes.... I can proudly say that in my childhood "Bornoporichoi" was the 1st book we went through and coincidently I went book fair today (30.01.22) and brought this same book for my daughter. This is how this book is important for us, it introduces us with our mother tongue. By the way, I am not preparing for any exam as I am a service holder but I love you videos very much sir. You and Prasant sir are my daily intoxication.

Yes it's true.. even I had studied this books when I was 4-5years old. He had written this books specifically for children. They are like "Panchatantra". They are to make young children understand some principles. And not just in WB they are also studied in all Bengalis "Balyashiksha" school (bengali Kindergarten) in Tripura and some parts of Assam.

Most elementary modern primary books have the stories from Vidyasagar writing. The unique thing is his upbringing from humble village background. He don't like to mingle with Europeans, very common at that time among the progressive individuals. Still he has the progressive ideas no pretention like Keshav chandra, live a very humble life.

Sir at 25:20,you mentioned Raja Ram Mohan Roy advocated widow remarriage. But the Bansal-Tripathi "Modern Indian History" book mentions that he wanted widow to lead ascetic lives. Can someone please clarify rhis?
