Mara Bragaglia riesce ad introdurre in Italia l'oro fair trade, scegliendo di puntare alla sostenibilità e all'etica per la creazione dei suoi gioielli. Il suo motto è "la bellezza è fragile" ed in questo speech si e ci interroga su cosa è davvero la bellezza. È vero che la bellezza salverà il mondo? O forse è possibile anche il contrario? Nel suo viaggio fra letteratura, filosofia e paesaggi esotici, traspare la sua esperienza di orafa, sempre alla ricerca di tesori nascosti che non siano solo belli ma anche giusti ed etici e sottolinea l'importanza di soffermarsi a riconoscerla questa bellezza, e di raccontarla agli altri per mantenerla viva.
Mara Bragaglia produces sustainable and ethical jewelry. While we always think of jewelry as something beautiful and fancy, it is time nowadays to also think of what's behind the creation of such items. Mara has a motto, which is 'beauty is fragile' and she starts from this when explaining how important it is to stop and recognise beauty around us in our everyday life and share it with others to keep it alive. Philosophy behind and under his arm, he approaches goldsmithing for a spontaneous exercise of practical creativity and, perhaps, becomes an alchemist.
Since 2012, with the name Maraismara, she begins to create jewelry.
The arrival of sustainable ethical jewelry was necessary, beauty cannot be conceived as separate from what is good and from what is true: aesthetics needs an adequate analogue in ethics, because you cannot create something valuable ignoring the true history of used materials.
In 2016 she introduced Fairtrade Certified Gold in Italy, making Maraismara the first certified goldsmith's workshop in the country, and chose to use and support only precious materials consistent with it. It wasn't the easiest choice to make, but it was the one that needed to be made. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
