Wow, a hauntingly beautiful voice and very expressive and beautifully nuanced phrasing! No forced, self-indulgent or hushed singing, all very tasteful and musical. I look forward to hearing more of Anita Hartig. I'm pretty sure she is going to be one of the most valuable stars of the last years.

I was in for a very pleasant surprise when she started singing. A very beautiful voice, but her interpretation and sincerity in what she's singing is what makes this a joy to my ears.

How do they sing, act, keep time to the music, and express their face, all in a foreign language, and all at the same time? Almost unbelievable!

She is so special--it's the singing, of course, but it's also her self, her soul (and it seems to be a beautiful one) that comes out when she sings....

Wonderful rendition of this aria! I would love to see Ms Hartig return to the MET as Mimì.

Wow! What a beautiful voice she has, what a talent and gift! If I was Peter Gelb, I would lock her up at the MET for as long as I could. As the MET stars age, some gracefully some not so gracefully, they really could use this soprano, as the next potentially great MET diva.

Gosh her voice is amazing. It reminds be a bit of Callas, but in a less metallic kind of way. Her voice is light, effortless, gracious... wow.

Unfair comparison: piano rehearsal vs performance but I find Hartig here to be a lot more compelling than Opolais as seen recently in the broadcast. To her credit, Opolais took an immense risk singing Mimi less than 24 hours after Butterfly the night before. However, I find Hartig’s voice perfect for Mimi. Her phrasing is exquisite and somehow she manages to bring new accents to an aria that has been heard so many times. Opolais cannot transmit intimacy and vulnerability like it seems Hartig could. Bravissima!

Questa sì che avrei voluto sentire dal Metropolitan l'8 aprile 2014 , non Kristine Opolais, che all'ultimo momento l'ha sostituita.

She was ill the night before. Met GM had to call Kristine, who played Madame Butterfly the night before and would be on stage again the following night, at 7 o'clock in the morning to replace her. I think he at least apologized 4 times in the show. It was a pity we did not see Anita. But we also should be grateful that Kristine had played Mimi for many times and indeed saved the broadcast. P.S. I love her in Carmen. She was great.

I personally hate BOHEME - can't stand Puccini's sentimentality - but this is a lovely soprano. I don't think this is the ideal role for her though. She has more power and substance than the fragile Mimi would have.

Could you please be more specific. I want to understand better the concept of “ scooping”. If you could point out to the exact part where it happens it would be great. Thanks
