Ci siamo tutti dimenticati di cosa vuol dire cantare in modo così nobile e raffinato.Vibrato zero, fraseggio e legato perfetti, conoscenza strutturale della musica impeccabile.
Thank you for posting this - I don't get to see either of these two in person enough. (I have to say that I find it humorous that people are criticizing a concert version of this song as if it were an actual stage production of Don Giovanni... I've never seen Netrebko sing Zerlina on stage, but she makes a marvelous Donna Anna, and Skovhus is the perfect Don Giovanni - sexy, charismatic and that glorious voice...)
fascinating! Thanks for sharing-- I usually just listen, but from now on I'll try and see how the character of the aria reflects the characters and plot of the opera!
it's not terrible singing, but the vibe of this piece just doesn't work then the baritone sounds like a lyric tenor and the female sounds like a full lyric mezzo. it's sounds more like a cougar and a young guy than a virile, masculine rake and innocent damsel
Well, yes Cecilia and Bryn for this particular aria. I just named Kiri and Bryn, since both of them are known for their Mozart, Kiri especially. They know how to be light and elegant, appropriate for Mozart.
Well, i seen miss Netrebko sing live a couple of times and i dont have any complain about her yes maybe she needs to learn more about her singing bel canto and other eras but she is great...
the music, the opera, and the story.... mozart is sooooo gooooooood! don giovanni is soooo gooood! it reminds me of my friend that loves girls. hahahahahaha. i hope he will have the same fate of ehat don giovanni experienced. ^_^
Why on earth are people comparing Sarah Brightman and Anna Netrebko?! They are completely different singers, Sarah are a classical cross-over and doesn't have the education to sing opera. So what if she has sung with opera singers before, so has other modern musicans like Freddy Mercury. Anna is wonderful in this, yes the dress is risque for the role, but she has sensual charm, and Bo Skovhus is perfect for Don Giovanni with a velvety baritone like that
i agree. she's got a beautiful voice, and shows potential. If she studies, she may become one of the best... But she seriously have to listen to the good ones: callas, Edda Moser, Cristina Deutekum, Sutherland... just like in visual arts, you have to know the best, not to copy, but to continue their work of researching and expression so you can discover and reveal mute feelings.
Dear Adrew, thanks for your quick English lessons. This aria is about confusing the mind of that girl.He wants to take her to his home. They should both act like that scene.Thats why ive pointed about the dress.Anyone can "sing" this in his bath. But shouldnt "sing" that way in a performance.Being a Mozart fan, i have the right to critise that.
I didn't say he was a tenor. I just said, that I cannot decide on him being a bass, a bass-baritone or a baritone because his voice is somehow... sometimes very high and sometimes very low. I cannot decide what he is! Use your eyes to read what I wrote.
@bodiloto Рад за Вас,что Вы живете в Париже, а не в Гвинее-Бисау.Так вот, купите себе там пожалуйста слуховой аппарат на распродаже, говорят что помогает.. Bonne chance mon cher patron!
After your very nice answer, I am pretty sure now that you didn't read the very first biography which was written (from Nissen, second husband of Constanze)... He was a german guy and Salzburg was part of Bavaria at that time!! Though there was no german country, he was more german than austrian... Don't answer, if you don't really know it...could become a bit embarrassing! ;) By the way: Einstein and Kopernikus were also german, and Hitler was austrian!! I don't read your answers anymore! :D
is a very beautiful song i play it on trumpet which is incredibly hard considering it was written for strings and not so much for trumpet and articulation gets tough
Well... He's very good looking I must say. AND an beautiful baryton-bass voice. But I have to admit he's got smouldering thing going on a litttle too much. : )
@gabbs312........dude, it wouldn't hurt to have a macho man playing Don Giovanni once in while. We audience needs to believe that the guys is secretly in every girl's dream...
I "hear" a lot of people critiquing the singers. "She is flat". He is this or that. None of that matters. What does matter is how the performance makes you feel.
And here to make you smile is a very young Netrebko 33 yrs old??? ~2004, singing a very witty version of the seduction aria with a lovely Baritone Bo Skovhus at a concert performance. This frivolous version of Don would not hold up in an opera performance (he is a predatory villain after all) but here I love it.
i really don't get her sudden fame... i mean, she's beautiful but frankly, she's not a good actress and she did not give any original refreshment to any of the performances (at least the ones i've seen)... it seems to me that she needs to study... I've heard some people calling her the next 'callas'... i mean, c'mon! She has a LONG way ahead of her to get near callas' excellence.
Cecilia and Bryn you mean -- there is a pure joy, not only in their singing but in acting too. Real "Don Giovanni" the way Lorenzo Da Ponte and Mozart I think meant it to be. As far as Netrebko -- a sensation only for her looks (which are gone, by the way), I am out of this discussion, it's gotten ridiculous.
Viva le nuove star della lirica Netrebko Villazon Garanca and c. sono belli bravi coraggiosi e soprattutto ci hanno fatto dimenticare in un baleno la tronfia volgarità di chi li ha preceduti
her name is Anna Netrebko, if i were you i'd see her performance of Le Filles de Cadis, it is also taken from this same show. I find her performance in that quite very professional and her voice exeptionally beautiful
