La Cinq filed for bankruptcy on 31 December 1991 and was placed in legal redress on 3 January 1992. Had la Cinq not ceased operations on 12 April 1992, it would have remained partly owned by Hachette until mid-1994, when Hearst would have acquired Hachette's stake in the channel (Hearst would have sold its stake in La Cinq to Finivest in 1998). Finivest would have sold La Cinq to France Télévisions in late 2001, which would result in La Cinq becoming France 5 in January 2002. Ironically, the news music that was used by La Cinq between April 1991 and April 1992 would later form the basis for the 1995 Gari Media news music package entitled "Image News", which was created ironically for the Hearst-owned stations...
@@SigmaRho2922 I think that Fininvest would never have sold La Cinq to France Télévisions, these are two channels that have absolutely nothing to do with each other through their program etc...
The music that was used for La Cinq's news programs between April 1991 and April 1992 would later form the basis for Gari Media Group's "Image News" music package, which was originally used by stations owned by Hearst Television in the fall of 1995.
