i dont understand why you guys complain about his vocals. You have to understand its not about sounding good, its about getting the emotion across. You can feel the pain the anguish the anger the despair the hate sure you can do that with conventional singing but there is something unique and powerful about this that tends to capture people and i think that's something we can all agree on.
Nando Maldonado Raw and genuine emotion he’s trying to convey. People need to look past the standard that’s held to vocalists, Jordan isn’t writing music he’s writing poetry and there’s where people get lost unfortunately for them
Yeah, that's true. When I first listened to them I was also not a fan of the vocals, but the lyrics kept pulling me back and after some time of listening and growing accustomed to their vocal style, I came to appreciate and like it.
When people say they don't like this band because they hate the vocals, it makes me kind of angry. Even though there isn't singing in this band. it is still GREAT. The spoken lyrics put more emotion into the songs. Not to mention, they are being original. When a La Dispute song comes on, you know right away it is them. They have their own sound.
when i listen to la dispute, i do it non stop for days at a time. i just... i don't understand why i feel so much emotion with these song, it's just so perfect to me. once you listen to la dispute, YOUR FEELS WILL COME OUT.
La Dispute's strong point has always been their lyrics. And Jordan's vocals highlights the emotion and message that the band's lyrics is trying to convey.
Always makes me think of one girl. Sweetest girl I ever met and we had so much in common. Knew her for years and only when we started dating she had to move. Years later I still haven't felt anything like that and she doesn't even think about me anymore. She has a family and all I have left are memories
this song has such a great rising sound, reminds me of norma jeans first album just with less screaming but the same building sound that comes to a beautiful final peak, amazing
I think everything about the music is really about highlighting the lyrics and it's just that much more intense you know. Some of the songs are so good because they slowly build up to something like King Park is one hell of a song.
I'm upset that I just heard about this fucking amazing band. I must've been living under a rock this whole time, I thought I loved PTV and BMTH, ugh I'm in love.
I'm from Berlin/Germany and I am kind of sad because here exists no band like La Dispute in Germany in german speech. I love german music there are quite good Bands like OK KID (Pop/Rap, /watch?v=GPSuGEb-Ghc), Heisskalt (Core/Hardcore, /watch?v=8pHKFHJURMI) and Kraftklub (Rock, /watch?v=bV37CClYr-U) who are german and have so deep and meaningful lyrics. La Dipsute is so whoa. The lyrics, the voice, the emotions. All of them is so catching and full of atmosphere. Just love them. From Berlin w ♥
@Iggyownsyou that is it's function my friend, to be enjoyed and revered. Everything can be art, it just takes the right eye to see it as such. Theres beauty all around us, in every voice, every song, every color, every stitch, everything. Something as emotional and raw as this or something as cold and robotic as techno or house music. Also music has a very practical use, music is used to inspire us, it's something we can relate to, something..almost ephemeral, that's so much more then skin deep
@licia dehinbo actually no one has, seeing as some of their demos and such are so rare, wouldn't be so surprised if they had personal limited releases to. Have you heard the full version of see you in vancouver? that was pretty hard to find, but so nicee.
np dude, i'm always savaging for anything that sounds different. ld also has a said the kind to the river, and "sad idea in a" demos there is others to, just gonna be a challenge to acquiring them, it's all a hell of allot better than the rotholcopter. you know of "autarkeia"? they are pretty decent. if your interested in this sort of music tho i would highly recommend looking outside the u.s, we are very behind in these sorts of things. ravachol anote killie noy like seriously all day, just never ending epic bands with this sort of sound... just not in the u.s..
@dbarii I'm sorry but this isn't open to your subjective opinion because this isn't a matter of opinion or debate. By definition, all music is art. Art is "the products of human creativity." Music is a product of creativity, and therefore art. Just because you think something sucks, doesn't mean it can't be art.
@dbarii part 2 of my comment... Another part of being art is it needs to be created for beauty and enjoyment over function. A house is not art because it is created for function. It is made for people to live in. A cathedral might be considered art, because large parts of it are there for beauty, and not function. Music has no practical use. It is created for beauty and enjoyment rather than function. And I love La Dispute. Just sayin.
@Iggyownsyou Then what function does a painting have? Function in music is not physical, but more on an emotional sense. Does not mean it's not a function. Beauty that has been created by a person is art. Period.
dude, its poetry. not "music" as you would call it. its about emotion, noit sound. it makes you think, it makes you feel, its about the words, not the way they are spoken.
@dbarii I never said everything was art. All music is art. Yes, there are bands that are absolute shit and put next to no effort into their music, and don't try to innovate at all. But they do put some creativity into their music, and it is therefore art. Just because you dislike something doesn't mean you can debate about whether it is, or isn't art.
@mobious10 - No offense, but ff that is the case, I don't see why this song is considered "good" since pretty much anyone can scream the words into the microphone if there is a beat behind it. I like the lyrics, because unlike many songs they're actually meaningful, but as @TotalProsky said, I think the vocals are awful.
@TotalProsky "The vocals are awful!"..... Oh, I'm sorry he puts his emotions into his words. However, I'm more sorry for the fact that you're too arrogant to see what emotion shows itself as. You're not required to like it, but you better appreciate it.
honestly, the music sounds okay, the singer makes me just think "wtf?" i mean jeez, the lyrics can be the best in the world, but this sound super whiney and trying too hard.
