Our first time skiing in La Grave after hearing about this legendary free ride resort for a long time. We had a good forecast, guidebook and map of the area so navigated ourselves (a guide is highly recommended though). The snow cover was light but still some great skiing to be had. We spent two days skiing just in La Grave and popped over to Les 2 Alpes for an afternoon of busy pisted resort skiing.
I definitely will be back and highly recommend visiting. Happy to answer any questions!

It is nice to see that there is terrain that I could actually ski at La Grave. I've been watching videos on some of the more challenging couloirs and that looks pretty scary. Thanks for sharing. PS The snow looks pretty boney but I guess you take what nature delivers.

dare I say it... thinking of going to la grave... but the two itineraries... look pretty rubbish to me... lots of dodging through rocky sections they are hardly even ski runs? seems like apart from the pretty extreme couloirs there is not much else?

It is the best place to do lift served off piste.

@@jamesthomas4841 how does it compare to Verbier?

Verbier is vast compared with La Grave. Despite that the length of the off piste descents at La Grave are bigger than anything at Verbier in reasonable conditions a 2100 metre descent is possible. Verbier is a conventional (and expensive) resort, La Grave is not. The descents at La Grave are on the north facing side of a very deep valley so tend to hold a lot of powder. If you want marker posts and ski patrol don't go to La Grave. If you want some adventure go to La Grave but apply some mountain sense and check the weather and avalanche forecasts. If it look too hazardous it is easy to do piste sking in the area provided you have transport. @@angushulme7074
