The maximum distance the four wheeler can be from the end of the truck bed is around 8" from the tip of the tail gate to the middle of the ball on the four wheeler. We can special make a piece to extend farther into the bed but you do not have to be concerned about the weight of the atv on the tailgate because the unit absorbs any weight fluctuations while in transport. You could actually drop the tailgate and the atv would stay suspended in the same position you locked it in.
Yes there is a 2" receiver on the back of the unit that can pull a 2,000 lb trailer with 200 lbs of tongue weight. You might want to use a drop hitch to bring the ball down lower but that would depend on your truck/trailer and your individuals needs/preferences.
From Aaron H in McKinney, TX through our online contact form "I was making contact with your company for one reason. I bought a Louisiana Guard Dog ATV tie down syatem last year and love it! On this past Friday I was involved in a major accident where the extent of damage was catastrophic. However I had my Yamaha Big Bear in the back of my truck. the tie down system held and then broke the upper arm of the system. But the system held long enough to just cause minimal damage to my vehicle."
continued..." im positive that on impact without this sytem, my atv would have been in my back seat!! thank you guys so much and i will be purchasing another system for my new truck. It saved my life and my atv"
