The leyend known as "La Llorona" or in english "The weeping woman" has many different stories over the years, but according to the original story began approximately a decade before the spanish conquers on 1521... When one of the spanish evangelist told that the Aztec emperor Moctezuma was worried about his dreams, for they warned him the end of his reign. And ear to ear they spread the stories of seeing a a woman crying and moaning, for their curiosity they asked the caused of her pain and what was she was trying to express. But then after the conquer, the appearance of the "weeping woman" still continue to spread and it was said that she was an indigenous woman who had 3 children with a Spaniard, but then he married a high-class woman. And as revenge the Indigenous woman tooked the life of her tree kids and then she went crazy and finally killed her self. But as I said every region in Mexico has their own stories...

I know that the scary music contributes to the story but if you don’t add the music, us viewers can listen and go over the audio and maybe find some things. It’s hard to do that with the music.... just an idea. Love you guys!

im 2 years late, but here's the story in depth. depending on where you live, there will be multiple versions of this story, but the one i was told was this: there was a young women in a town who was rly beautiful. she wanted to get married, but everyone in the town (including her) was very poor and she wanted to marry rich. then one day, a wealthy man came into her town and saw her beauty and wanted to be with her. flashback to a couple months later when they got married and had two kids. the father had to leave often because it was what his job required. one year, he was gone the whole time and came back on the eldest child's birthday (the oldest was a boy and the youngest was a girl). la llorona (i'm just going to call her that, but she isn't identified as la llorona until after)was so excited to see her husband, but when she ran outside, she saw that the husband had another woman with him. this woman was beautiful and rich. la llorona was furious and called her kids out to greet their dad. the father had a cold shoulder to la llorona until the kids came out and he instantly had a big smile on his face. la llorona saw this and pulled the father aside. they started arguing and it basically ended with the father telling her that he didn't love her anymore, but wanted to see the kids. she was so upset that after he had put the kids to sleep, she woke them up and told them to get dressed. she was so jealous that her kids were the only ones that he loved, that she took them to the river and drowned them. after she realised what she had done, she wailed in pain and the drowned herself. she is said to be walking around trying to find her kids to apologize to them, and will take two siblings that she thinks is hers. once she realizes those two kids aren't hers, she will drown them and continue looking. (the religious side is that her two kids are in heaven and god has here down o earth until she finds her two kids and brings them back up to heaven with her). this is what i was told so your version might be different than mine but i hoped i was able to give a more indepth story for those who didn't grow up with this story!

Were I live she's called "La Sayona" and she doesn't cry she's always screaming (don't know the story) but there's something that I know and it's that, if you hear a really far scream from where u are that means she's really close to you (the furthest the scream the closest she is) and if u hear the scream really close to u it means that she really far. I guess in this case it's not a scream it's a crying but idk. I've only heard her like two times in my life and it's unexplainable how horrible it is.

I will never forget in Mexico, Guadalajara, I was visiting my family and they lived in a gated area which I thought was pretty cool. Spending my time there, at night everyone would go to sleep while I would stay up and read on my tablet. But one night that made me stop reading at night and try to go to sleep faster was an incident that happened to me. Everyone has gone to bed and I was reading my book, but then I heard a lady talking, and I thought it was the neighbors next door, but then she stopped, so I kept my attention to my book. Then, all of a sudden I hear a women crying and I am like okay??? But her crying gets louder and louder, then it was outside my window and I didn't have the courage to look outside, I was also confused to why no one else hears this lady crying so hard. So I quickly turned off my tablet moved myself to my sisters bed and fell asleep. I wont ever forget that night, I kept sleeping in my sisters bed and always fell asleep early so I wouldn't have to hear the women cry again. I then told my parents and grandmother and they dismissed it and all my grandma had to say to me was thank goodness I didn't look out the window, anything could have happened to me.

So basically la llorona we all know that she drowned her kids in a lake after feeling the guilt after her actions she then drowned herself in the same water that she drowned her kids in it’s sad but the only way to keep your kids safe from is by keeping your kids close together and put them both in a closet and lock it so she can’t get in I know that’s what they did in the movie but I have seen it myself personally and it’s sad what people have to do to keep there kids safe but that’s how you protect your kids from her and yes I have heard her before a long time ago in Mexico where I lived by a lake so yea I thought I’d share that with y’all

My family's story's are, a woman named Mary or Maria and her husband cheated on her and she was so angry that she "got possed by her anger" and killed her kids then realized what she did. Then killed her self and now she haunts most of Mexico and new mexico she helps keeps kids away from the ditches and rivers so she doesn't drown and she doesn't like middle aged men. (There are 400 variations of this story btw but this is tge one my family tells to keep my cousins out of the ditch) Also Sam's pronunciation of la llorona is goldddd completely wrong but golddddd
