Here's Rafa Soto performing his arrangement of "La Llorona" (a traditional Mexican folk song) on a 2017 Felipe Conde "FC28" flamenco guitar made with spruce soundboard and African rosewood back and sides. Recorded at the Guitar Salon International showroom in Santa Monica, CA.

OMG the extreme amount of finesse here and his expression of rhythm it's so different from any flamenco I've experienced it's kind of like he has a classical mom and a flamenco father .

Un tema tradicional mexicano icónico a nivel mundial al estilo de música flamenca española, que si bien del tema musical (melodía) de llorona casi nada tiene, lo que conserva es la progresión armónica, haciendo con ella una improvisación... Bueno, no me lo esperaba.

Antes que nada su técnica es muy buena y la interpretación y todos los matices son buenísimos lo único es que no suena a la llorona yo soy mexicano y no siento nada que me haga sentir que esa pieza es la llorona pero repito es muy buena y me gusta

Exceptional playing no doubt and a solid picado technique. Although, for my taste, I didn’t get a rendition of la llorona. At best it is a lose interpretation or variation a piacere of la llorona. There’s so much one can do with a piece like la llorona harmonically, melodically, rithmically 3/4, 6/8 time, syncopation and of course those beautiful flamenco chords for a song of despair, pain, love, I find Chavela Vargas and Martirio’s to be interesting complete renditions of la llorona while keeping the traditional 3/4 time waltz to a more complex harmonic, rythmic one, still keeping the integrity of the melody. Overall i think Rafa’s performance was enjoyable.

@@CarlitosMayo It's not a lack of taste. He's just not a fan of the interpretation of the actual melody of La Llorona through this Flamenco take. Obviously, there are more true-to-melody Flamenco takes to the Mexican song La Llorona; Sabicas has one in a bulerias that maintains the clear and recognizable melody of La Llorona. This sounds great in of itself, really good actually. Though it doesn't sound any bit like La Llorona. I think that's what Jorge was trying to address.

Besides generaly loving what this channel bring to us, this version lacks something, it feels like a generic take without personality, i didnt like it either
