The ocean form. It's the most symbolically powerful one, I think. The first true form just says she's alien, the second form is her being a symbolic, tragic mother, and the last one is, well, her creating another life. The ocean form just says she's -the mother of all life-, overlooking the womb of the ocean where the primordial organisms developed.
Gezo But I was super-creeped out by that form. If I got stuck on The Mother for long enough, I would have surely had nightmares about that form. The baby is probably the scariest part. It was not comforting that it made me think "Prom Night Dumpster Baby".
Yeah, that form is basically Virgin Mary I would think (pretty clear with all the crosses falling down during that phase), which makes sense in the context of who the Mother is.
You know what I want to see? A video of the fight against Mother in the remake, except you use only whatever was the only weapon that could hurt her in each corresponding phase in the original.
To bad you can not help the Mother get back to the heavens. Would of course be quite a bizarre sight to see a massive complex of ruins being blasted off into space by hundreds of rockets boosters.
I like to think that we actually succeed at doing so. Like, symbolically sending her to heaven by killing her. Maybe that's what she wanted. Also sorry for replying to such an old comment.
@@duck3892 Hmm perhaps but I don't think the mother would agree with this. This is one of those situations in which it is Us vs Them. There is sadly no middle ground.
I just beat La Mulana Remake yesterday for the first time ever. On hard mode, because I activated it in the beginning of the game by accident (but came to enjoy the challenge). Some comments claim mother in the original to be more difficult than in the remake. But to be honest, if I took the same amount of hits as in above video, I'd be dead in the remake. This might be due to hard mode. But is there a hard mode in the original? I don't know. But if there isn't, I think the argument could be made that mother in the original is not more difficult. That being said, I was surprised that mother was easier than the majority of the guardians relative to the gear and HP acquired at the time.
2ranirs if you took this amount of hits in the remake you would be dead, yes. But mother in the remake also takes way less hits than this to kill. I just beat the vita version today (on hard) and the fight in this video looks way harder, there's so much going on here it's almost impossible not to take damage.
this is coming 900 years later, but most people say that because mother in the original is more of a puzzle fight. the original's puzzles are harder, but the bosses in the remake are generally ramped up. the only exception here is mother, where the two are just very different. this is almost 100% because of that phase with the eyeballs in the original. you have to hit them in a very, very specific order or you're getting struck by lightning. and the only way to solve it is with 4 tablets scattered throughout everywhere: first one in gate of confusion: "The mother ocean watches kindness and charity." and then tower of ruin: "The left eye sees Kindness." tower of the goddess: "The right eye sees Charity." and finally, chamber of birth: "Charity, Kindness, Charity, Charity, Kindness, Charity, Kindness, Kindness, the endless sound of the waves." so, you have to hit them in: right, left, right right, left, right, left left and also with the dagger, which nothing tells youanywhere
What is the order for the ocean form?! DX And how do I even learn of it?! Nevermind, found the clue myself: The right eye sees Charity. Charity, Kindness, Charity, Charity, Kindness, Charity, Kindness, Kindness RLRRLRLL
Well, now that nothing's been said for around 2 years, I think it's perfectly fine to mention how much harder this is from the Wii-Steam versions. First is the pre-final-battle form. The original, as seen here, shoots two slow-moving balls. They disappear around the same time the fifth and sixth balls enter the screen. The Steam version has it shooting one fast-moving ball rather promptly. The problem is that they disappear around the time a third would appear. In my honest opinion, numerous slow-moving balls are harder to dodge than a couple fast-moving ones. That and both the Keyblade and the Flail work, which deal a whopping six damage a piece and are super fast if you've gotten the Gauntlet, instead of the measly slow two damage the original keyblade deals. Then there's the actual definite final battle. The original has a puzzle boss forcing to use the other weapons. The new version? Similarly built, but any and all weapons work. That, and the only real portion of the boss that will end up damaging you before the finale would be in the Dead Baby section. Finally, the final section of the boss. Both devolve into massive dakka storms. However, once again, the remake's version tries to be more fast-paced, but soon forms a bunch of attacks that don't often come close to hitting you and/or are easily blocked. The original, however, has numerous forms of the same attack, and while they can be blocked, as shown, you're not always going to be facing the right way to avoid or block them.
Alexander Krueger ...Or, to summarise, the remake is actually fair as opposed to flinging unavoidable nonsense at you or tying one hand behind your back with weapon restrictions.
Alexander Krueger The remake version was like hell for me. Of course, I was playing hard mode with only primary weapons, but this battle looks a lot easier, save for the stiffer controls. The damage output is ten times lower here than it is in the remake. The movements of The Mother are extremely predictable here, while they are really hard to get in sync with in the remake. Every seems more dangerous to me. It is very irritating trying to battle each form and it you are bound to make a mistake and it seems like whenever I make it to the end, I need mostly full health to stand a chance. The movements in the last form make it almost impossible to deal damage without getting hurt and there are a ton of things to keep track of. Palenque's spray of bullets starts out dodgeable, but becomes seemingly impossible to dodge later in the fight and the Baphomet pillars of light are more directed to you and quicker and harder to predict. The only thing about this video is that it wasn't played in Hard Mode. Maybe it is a lot worse in Hard Mode. I could hardly beat Tiamat in this game but I never got to The Mother.
+Sir Nancy The Negative The original is as simple as the remake in the first form: stay close to the mouth, wait for her to shoot, move to the opposite side of her face, strike thrice, wait, dodge, strike thirce, repeat for true story.
And the thing to remember about the eyes part, if you screw up the pattern does NOT reset, so you just have to move on. I just kicked mother's ass again yesterday, for old time's sake... :P
What? Stupidest comment i've seen here. I used EVERY WEAPON against her. Why the heck wouldn't you? I literally used almost every single weapon in the game in her fight. "Excluding Rolling Shurikans, and the Pistol cause that's too op" You sound like a weirdo who finds a op weapon type and just sticks with that forever. Mother in the Remake is weak to certain weapons in certain phases. You're SUPPOSED to use every weapon you have against her. She's easily the best fight in the game, Both Original and Remake.
What the heck is that last la-mulana treasure supposed to be? An Egyptian scarab carving? Just a smooth oval gemstone? A badge with boobs? Something else...?
