National Shrine of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary La Naval de Manila and Santo Domingo Church
2023 becomes a very special year for the La Naval and whole City of Quezon. As decreed by the Bishop of Cubao last September 8, the Diocese of Cubao will be celebrating the Solemnity of Our Lady of the Rosary of La Naval de Manila every second Sunday of October. This year, the whole Catholic community also commemorate the 50th anniversary of the declaration of Our Lady of the Rosary, La Naval de Manila as patroness of Quezon City, with the theme “Mahal na Birhen ng La Naval: Pintakasi ng Sambayanang Kristiyano”.
Devotees, members of different barangays in Quezon City, Dominican affiliated organizations and institutions and the local government, attended the Eucharistic Celebration presided by Most Rev. Honesto F. Ongtioco, with the Prior of Sto. Domingo Parish Rev. Fr. Roger Quirao, OP, and parish priest Fr. Simon Peter DL. Ramos, OP, and other concelebrating priests.
The devotees also joined the Grand Procession in honor of Our Lady and the Dominican saints. At the end of the procession, Our Lady was once again placed at her baldacchino for the re-enthronement rite, and the event was concluded by singing the Despedida A la Virgen led by the Sto. Domingo Grand Choir.
