La Santa Cecilia spreads joy every time its members plug in to do a show. They do it one dance step at a time, with cumbias, corridos, elegant mambos and plain old rock 'n' roll.
I first saw La Santa Cecilia perform in an Austin, Texas, parking lot about five years ago. As all great bands do, it showcased an It Factor that has only intensified as the L.A.-based, Mexican-American group works tirelessly to perfect its musical vision.
The video here provides just a hint of the band's dynamic live shows, albeit a spectacular one. No matter how small the device you use to watch this, the songs ought to have a significant impact on your personal joy meter. A bailar! --FELIX CONTRERAS

Te puedes engañar sola, ser políticamente correcta o mamá cuerva, pero la realidad es objetiva y el color de piel nada tiene que ver tampoco, no hay que ser racistas que hasta personas con vitíligo, blancas o morenas pueden o no ser hermosas.

My god how far they’ve come. I remember when they used to sing at the Placita Olvera in DT Los Angeles. I couldn’t have been older than 9. And I remember I used to just sit a watch them perform for everybody passing by.

I LOVE this so much!!!! I remember when I sang at the Hollywood Forever show and this band played .. it was years ago.. 2006? and I said "this band is so much fun and they are gonna be a HIT"! I wasn't wrong! I'm inspired by these songs/lyrics, fun sounds, deep meanings and TRUTH! I'm a 5th generation US born Latina when Texas was Mexico! Thank you La Santa Cecilia for your ICE song!!! RASPAS!! My family owns one of the most lucrative Raspas business in Laredo Tejas! This song hit me hard! I keep a copy of my birth certificate with me.. just in case, and Spanish is not my first language.. I went to good old San Diego public schools. Thank you!!! Also for wearing all the fun stuff I wish I could wear on stage!!! You're proud to Not starve to be a size 6! sporting my favorite type of Glasses, bright dresses representing our beautiful culture, curly short hair G-d gave you, brown beautiful skin!!! I know I'm late to the party but this is hands down one of the best Tiny Desk Concerts for me. I felt so much joy and connection with this music and the artists. Thank you for making this kind of music and thank you for remembering those people still struggling through everyday life. World would be so much better without borders and ignorant hate towards each other. Love and respect each other. Learn to love the difference in each person.
