your first equation where you prove for p prime is wrong (in my opinion). Basically you're making a system of equations by the compensated price change and the W. law, so you remove w' and you get: p'.x(p',w')+p'.x(p,w)= p'[x(p',w')+x(p,w)] is equal to 0 only if x(p',w') is 0 which is impossible
