Namco also proved to be troublesome in their DLC characters for Tekken 7. Leroy was truly unruly and it was a shock to see such a character in Tekken.

I literally looked at this character day one and thought "I mean... this doesn't look that bad as some other dlc fighters." and then I started seeing the videos that explained her better than my brain did and I just thought "Jesus f*cking christ who at Arc and Bandai smoked what and can I have some?"

I know that there’s a common misconception about Brawl Meta Knight being banned, because in the end he was never banned since basically 75% of players played Meta Knight, no one would wanna play tournaments, which included Japanese players. So it was up to TOs to say whether he was banned or not. So because TOs wanted people to actually go to Brawl Tournaments, most tournaments never banned him So Labcoat 21 getting banned this fast already outclassed Brawl Meta Knight

Let's take a moment to appreciate that this man played the whole entire story mode just so he can have regular android 21 for footage

The whole "Broken on purpose" thing isn't even exclusive to DBFZ. If you utter the names Leroy or Fakhurahm around a Tekken 7 player, you'll strike fear into their salt filled hearts. This is a very deliberate tactic, likely from the suits higher up at Bandai Namco.

Between telling Piccolo to go “harder” and this whole “step on me” schtick, is there something you’re not willing to admit, Gohan? Also: When the the 1st form of a boss character (Labcoat) feels more like a “Final Boss” than the 2nd one (Majin).

I’m sure it’s been said, but the irony of RAID being advertised on a video about pay 2 win is thicker than Broly’s shoulders.

Arc Sys has a thing for scientist character, back to Blazblue Chronophantasma, Kokonoe was banned too, if you were hit once, you were trap to infinite blockstrings to an unblockable to death

Competitve players will want to buy her because she's top tier Casual players will want to buy her because of booba It's a win-win for everybody.

10:22 what’s crazy is that Meta Knight was never banned from big tournaments, just part of a suggested rule set for brawl tournaments. The reason it didn’t go into effect was that Japanese players wouldn’t go to Apex (the biggest smash tournament at the time) if they couldn’t use MK. Lab Coat 21 is just entirely different. I haven’t payed attention to her that much because I’ve gotten into other games than DBFZ and busy with my personal, I knew she was good but not this good.

I’m glad you addressed how hard it is to avoid her debuff grab-some people just hop into training mode and dodge *just* the grab without any mix ups or set up at all and say they don’t understand why people are complaining about it- and it also gave more clarity to me as to why she’s so broken. Damn 21 how come your mom lets you have 6 lows?

On any other character, -21% would be the justification for being trash because it's basically a win condition. On this monstrosity, it's instant Pet Shop tier.

The tournament is over now in 2023, came back to this video after so much disappointment, she still unbalanced.

Seeing characters like this always confuse me, since there's so many easy ways to nerf LC21 while also leaving her as a strong character. Casuals will still wanna buy the character for... aesthetic purposes, and more hardcore players will want to buy her as she's got a really good toolkit, but doesn't steamroll the entire roster for literally no reason. It also continues to confuse me how bad Arcsys keeps fucking up on zoning. They're either Frieza levels of bad, or they're an entirely different archetype that also happens to have the best zoning tools. Like, Z Broly has some of the best zoning tools despite being a fucking grappler with super armor on almost every option. LC21 has great zoning options while also being a rushdown. It makes absolutely no sense. There's easy ways to nerf her, imo, while still leaving her identity as a character intact. Like, the 21% damage debuff could easily only last until a character is downed on either team and the "next round," so to speak, starts. That still allows the character to have her own unique design choice, while being balanced around the aggressive playstyle that Arcsys created and be balanced around the strong comeback mechanics that the game uses. Or hell, maybe even only make it until the character is switched out, that way an entire team can't be nerfed all at once. Not nearly as strong, granted, but still forces your opponent to want to switch, meaning they can easily be baited into a punishable switch. However, it also allows your opponent to handle the debuff if they're smart and stay calm. How about only her vertical lariat is immune to ki blasts while her horizontal one isn't? Or vice versa, whichever one makes the most sense. Maybe the "step on me mommy" special should only be available as an EX option, that way you're forced to spend bar to continue combos, or maybe it should be considered a super and take a full bar. Still a powerful tool for maintaining combos and getting extra damage, but isn't literally free.

Not to mention that android 21 is like if Tekken decided to involve their move set into just ONE CHARACTER

I will admit I mainly purchased LC21 since I wanted to play as a "good" version of A21, since the default version outside of the story is her evil version, and I really like personality of her good version in the story. I had no idea she was this purposefully broken however, its nuts. Impressive presentation and showcasing of your points too btw, both entertaining and very insightful.

Bandai Namco had something similar happen with Leroy and Fakuhm where both were obscenely broken. Leroy had versions of key moves from other characters, but they were BETTER than the ones on those characters. It makes me wonder how much of this stuff is really an "accident"

Okay, no joke, that first minute of the video is THE COOLEST thing I have ever seen from DBFZ content creation. That fight scene got me chills, and the video "didn't even start yet." Massive respect to not only that, but using the new Camera Mod with such efficiency. The quality of this is BEYOND great, and you are an actual inspiration. 5:45 - I mean is he wrong 8:03 - The debuff was an actual menace to this game's... everything. The meta, its fanbase, the characters in it. I feared this game would die due to this one move. Good thing hArcSys said they would do more updates. The MetaKnight analogy as well as average tournament time fact really put into perspective how scary this one abomination of a move could be.

Seriously, the editing is so good I can't fucking tell what's gameplay and whats editing until some funny shit that's completely out of character happens

Well. Now, Lab Coat 21 has received a good amount of nerfs. Her spins are now registered as Ki Blasts and can be reflected when blocked and 21 now has a whopping 50% CUT TO HER METER GAIN.

It's just the fact that the game was centered around this original character and wasn't even available from the jump 😵‍💫

I genuinely believe that, completely opposite of the "Buy my DLC theory", Arcsys truly wanted to make their OC as busted as possible. Not to mention the characters' being referenced in other pieces of lore and such. I'm sure Bamco saw it as an opportunity to make tons of money though, prolly made it easier to greenlight

Literally every season is a new hard meta character. Bardock S1, Gt Ratku S2, UI goku S3, and pan coat S4. Never a base character thats truly broken

Honestly, Omega Shenron could have been a much cooler (and balanced) character to make a DLC. He’s got tons of reference material and potential gimmicks, so he could have made it in and added more. Of course, this is just my opinion, you all can disagree if you choose.

I usually take a break from it whenever a DLC character gets released, just because I KNOW I'm only gonna see that character online and I'm gonna get sick of them VERY quickly. I did the same thing for 21 at first, but then hearing about how blatantly broken she was just made me not wanna come back until it got fixed.

Thank you for drawing a little special attention to one of the main enemies of balance in games: Profit margins.
