What a show!!! What costumes!!! Track Listing... 1. Space Children 2. Are You Lonely? 3. (Can I Speak To You Before i Go?) Hollywood 4. You Turn Me On 5. Lady Marmalade 6. What Can I Do For You?
@@mmartin-miles3093 the cannot be replicated vocally. My next modern favorite is brownstone I felt there harmony was very similar and also very powerful and Explosive like Labelle
@@nesq4104 l agree! Brownstone's vocals would shatter glass! Patti spoke of Sarah at her passing and said that Sarah always favored the background instead of lead. That told me that some people are fine with being in a group and possibly not even the star of the group. I have been researching and enjoying the music of Sarah Dash since her passing. An unsung hero and a legend in her own right, what a legacy to leave for the world to enjoy forever. . .❤️🎙
@@mmartin-miles3093 some people vocals are not great leads but very strong background/group singers because their ability to do notes and style a song. Sarah nor Nona were background singers and I hate when people get that confused. Sarah had literally one of the best Sopranos I ever heard in a group. She has a lot of colors and textures and hit notes really clean. Then she could open up her throat and drown out Patti on occasion. Like the live performances of "I believe I finally made it home" she opened that voice up!
They should've been in the rock hall of fame at it's inception. Nona Hendyx wrote the majority of their material, which also included brilliant song composed with Patti & Sarah Dash as well as afew cover songs brilliantly arranged and performed by the members of LaBelle! Thank you so very much for sharing this with us!!! I absolutely appreciate being able to see this performance in its entirety, finally at 59 years young!!! ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤ Thanks a billion times. ❤❤❤

@@godivorThe BBC post historic videos of all artists but over only ever seen the post of Lady Marmalade on BBC best of. I got a VHS copy of You Turn Me On, but never saw the entire broadcast. Space Children and Can I Speak to You Before You Go To Hollywood were amazing! Lucky you were tuned in to see the original and we can celebrate this nearly 50 years later❤❤❤
Funny because that was a great way to start the concert. Great that Bud Ellison and the band could do fresh arrangements from the album version. This was more of a jazz fusion, funk and soul than what's on the album. Totally love it.
Man I'm soooooo in LOVE 😘 with Nona Hendryx God all I do is watch her... can't front Jak. Man I would have ask for her hand 4sho.. yeah like she would have accepted 😢😢😢 But a Man can DREAM 😱😱😱😱✨✨✨✨
I Just Can't Believe!! How Diana Ross & The Supremes Was The Biggest Girl Group During The 1960's And When The 1970's Came Around!! How Patti LaBelle & The Bluebells 🎤🎤🎤!! Went From Their 1960 Look!! The Taking Their Audience To The FUTURE 🚀 🤖 With Their Spacey Costumes!! And Their Black Rock, Funk & Soul Sounds!! The Group LaBelle Claimed The Charts 📉!! And Never Came Back Down 👍.. The 1970's Supremes Came Down 👇!! The Bluebells Went Up 👍.
This is great! Where was this recorded and who broadcast it? I love this because I love all things LaBelle, but I wish they would have turned them a loose to really rock and roll like they usually did in live concerts. If you haven't listened to the live concert at the Beacon on RU-vid, listen to it. It is amazing. It's bootlegged audio, but it still sounds awesome. Also, I guess the applause sign came on a little too early at the end here? The applause started 3 minutes before they left the stage, then it stopped, then they came back. And it would have been great to see the names of the musicians. Does anybody know who they were?
Thanks, onamove70. .This show was recorded and broadcast by the BBC in the UK. Do'n't know about the audio bootleg, though, Can anyone help, please?...
@@tush001 Please listen to it, it's here on RU-vid. No video, just bootlegged audio. It says Live at the Beacon 1974, but someone in the comments said it was actually Oct '75. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bKy8g17ojKs.html
the greatest "chick band" of all time. Why do I say that?..the proof is in the puddin'. Im not talking about the greatest 'girl group' that sold the most records. Thats the territory relegated for The Supremes and TLC and Destiny's Child. No, Im talking about the greatest female group, inasmuch as they did it all...they sang everything...and they sang it, EXTREMELY well. Pop...gospel...Broadway standards...funk...soul/r&b and music styled, arranged and composed with a latin flavor. LaBelle did all that. And they made it all look easy. They are my favorite group, male or female.
I was lucky enough to see them when they came to San Francisco twice. When you went to a Labelle concert it was an extravaganza. The audience would wear silver and be in constumes like Labelle. I remember Pati coming down from the ceiling with all of th ese feathers flapping and singing like a bird. Then Nona and and sexy Sara (her metal bra) with those harmonies. I was floored! I think Sara was the most underated soprano ever. There is no other group in history who could or can sing like these women. No autotune... OMG!
My favorite is and will always be Nona. That piercing alto voice that comes through and adds balance to the trio. An amazing writer. Nona's mind goes where no mind has gone before.......
I recorded this on to a cassette tape ( direct line ) as we didn’t have a video then. So glad to see it in full after many decades. I ended up buying all their 70’s albums after seeing this, they blew me away.
I’ve eagerly awaited the full version of this concert! Thank you, and what a joy to see Patti and the ladies at their youthful, energetic and most powerful best! And in stunning clarity and color for its time.❤🎉
Me too, I've had copies of copies of copies. I was the first to post the You Turn Me On video on YT from my VHS. There is probably less than 6 degrees of seperation beiween us.. Cause that used me quite a selective club back in the day... Lol.
I vaguely remember this broadcast and as a youngster, what caught my attention was their costumes! That was the plan, according to the members of Labelle, if you would look at them, then you would listen. I loved all aspects of this performance and as usual, Sarah did her thing with those pipes, along with the other ladies who all round out the group! Thank you for sharing this performance. . .
Seeing as Labelle broke up long before i was a thought in my parents minds the live concerts and old footage are everything to me. im a humongous fan i found them when i was in high school in the mid 2000s and been hooked ever since MORE MORE!!!!
Don't know where this is, but I caught Labelle performing this very show at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in 1975, I was soooo high _ But ohhh, didn't they take me higher, Such a time, such a night and Labelle was exceeding magnificent
This is so amazing, i didnt even know this existed. I heard Patti Labelle on a Frank Sinatra duet and she was the best female vocals of the record. I dont think she gets the credit she deserves!
She put her FOOT in You Turn Me On!!!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 to see how they just switched it up from Can I Speak to You Before You Go to Hollywood is just astonishing!!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾
