Hi - fellow 🇨🇦 here. I purchased these but haven’t used them yet so wanted to check for videos of those that had & yours came up. It was fun to see that you also use the felt pads for things you keep & move around on your craft table - I have used these for many things as it also decreases noise that some containers or other objects make when being moved around & makes it so much easier to move them. Hoping you still like your ink storage & that it remained durable with use. 🙂

Hello Ellen-Marie! Pleasure to meet you, a fellow Canadian crafter, for sure! I still use and love the storage system! Haven’t changed it because it’s a space saver and displays my inks beautifully as I just love looking at the colours and being organized! Happy crafting!

Good to know the Spectrum Noir storage fits also the distress ink pads!

Hi Sharon!! Yes, they’re not a perfect fit since the Distress pads are square, but the Spectrum storage keeps everything in their place🤗

I too color coded all 4 sides of my ink pads in 3/8" x 2" strip and then on one side I used my label maker and printed the name and place the label over and centered on the 4th color strip so I am able to see the color and name. I invested in the stamp n storage wall ink holders, making use of vertical and wall space. One of my best investments! I recently did this in January and have not regretted it since! And recently, I've added 6 stamp and storage 8 1/2 paper holders and 2 12x12 paper holders and the 72 mini ink holders for my ikea drawers. The stamp n storage units are a definite investment but of excellent quality and will hold up forever so for me the investment is well worth it!

Hi Julie! The stamp and storage sound fantastic - they are a worthwhile investment. Personally, when my crafting space is organized, I feel like it spawns more creativity in me. Thanks for sharing your mini-ink holder tip. I need storage for my Distress Inks, which I have in the regular and mini sizes all mixed up. It's a pleasure to meet you, Julie!

Great idea with the ink pad labels! I’ve seen where people use bead storage containers for the foam pads. Gonna try that too! Thanks for sharing your ideas. Happy crafting!

So happy I found your video. I purchased the same Spectrum Noir stamp pad storage system and spray painted it white. I am now going to add the felt pads as my desk is wood, never thought of adding the pads, ty!!! I love the idea of the Avery mailer labels and distressing them, genius. I think I will print the names of the inks on the labels after distressing them. I just printed all my brother labels four times each ($$$); wish I saw this video a few days ago. Love your ideas and tyfs. :D

I’ve found the Avery labels pop off. Ranger has labels that I think has snot’ glue so it stays adhered.

You could use a label maker like the brother ptouch with clear tape and adhere the tape on top of your inked labels.

I used white address labels when I first began my brown grunge collection a decade ago. I colored the ink lighter on the left side & heavy on right. This way I can see the true color in light or dark. Then I used a sharpie to write the name. I also found the "name badge" stickers in my stash. They're a lower quality paper, however I can cut 3 or 4 strips from one sticker. My older inks are labeled on 2 sides & oxides managed 3 or 4, depending on my penmanship haha. Gmta

@sharonwalkercrafts 2 года назад
Great sharpie idea! I may just do that on one of the four labels for the ink pads that don't have the Brother P-Touch label. This way I can see the name and the colour at the same time. Your light and dark idea is also very clever. Thanks for sharing!

you can get clear brother tape to label the name of the color and put it on top of the colored sticker. In addition to seeing the name, it protects the inked label from staining or getting any water spots if there's any overspray.

I found your method interesting but I need the ink names on my labels. I’m going to try to make a 4X1 stencil in order to ink blend an entire sheet and see if I can then run that through my printer for ink names. I’ll let you know how that turns out.

Greetings to you from a fellow creator I am far away in terms of location but sharing the same interest. Situated in North Sweden not far from the arctic circle we have long dark winters and it’s necessary to have all you need cause it can be very tricky getting ahold of things. So I have a wide variety of items I use in the various expressions of creativity that I dabble in. Unfortunately the house I lived in burned down so I have had to move to an apartment and that meant very very limited space.(still not fully moved in) So may II share an idea that I came up with when I was trying to organize my ink pads? Since it has and is still costing a fortune just to get the clothes etc I need and similar I was very limited in terms of cost. So I started thinking.. roper usually GIVE AWAY or throw away cd shelf’s. And the same goes for the plastic outer casings for cds (well the cds are also thrown but irrelevant in this case. So I located a couple. One floor standing waist high, one table one that spins around, and one that’s floor to ceiling. So easy sanding them over (they are usually laminated) and some minor fixing a layer or two of a color that I wanted and some decorations by drawing and stencils. Used only the side of the cdcase that has the fold and slanted them slightly, by placing the front pin for the real shelf one step lower but used the cd case as shelf once in place I put a few drops of gorilla glue. And I did this on the tabletop one and the waist high one. The benefit was that it made everything easy to see, easily accessible and very unique. The floor to ceiling one I decorated in the same way. Put the whole slimline case as shelf and glued in place removed the back side of the cd shelf and placed it an angle out from the wall. Got som see thru containers (some with lid) in the right size to store glue, glitter and other necessities in. Easy to see, and access. And on the side that I turned out from the wall I got dollar store towel hangers small sized and put some rolls there so I can put my ribbons in a easy and orderly fashion. So all the space it took was the size of a cd rack on the table for my most used ones ( Onyx and similar). Space saving and they can be mounted on a metal lazy Suzan if you don’t find suck one that you can turn. It frees up a whole lot of space and if one desires they can even be wall mounted..😬😬 I can see from your video that you are crafty, handy and I dare bet that if you you would create a eye catching gorgeous item and the bonus is that you widen your creativity and it would free up even more space, meaning everything that is excess of a single cd sized square. That would be even better. The benefit is also that you can make a video about it, attracting even more viewers. If you consider: the only thing a IKEA standard craft space shows it that you follow the herd and you have money. A crafter that has stunning unique and customized inspired and clever in their craft space show a genuine creative person, who comes up with new ideas instead of doing the same as everyone else. I know IKEA is trendy, and popular . The way I think (perhaps sort of a Swedish perspective) it’s standardized and sort of very flat and boring.. IMHO all that it shows is a lack of originality, and genuine inspiration and that is not what any creator would want to convey. I am telling you this because I can clearly see that you have a genuine and very creative soul. That makes people remember you, interested in how and what you do more, and what expression it will take in your card creations.. that also makes people talk.. It’s one of the best advertisement any creator can get.

Dear Liliya!! It is a true pleasure to meet you! Warmest greetings from Canada! I am so sorry to learn about your home and your belongings. I truly hope that you are able to use art and your creativity to continue to help you rebuild and heal. As for your CD shelving and your CD case idea, I think it is just brilliant! You definitely have a creative soul-why not repurpose resources and help the environment at the same time. I love your cost effective storage idea. Crafting and art supplies already costs a pretty penny! Thank you for sharing your amazing idea with me, Liliya!!!

@@sharonwalkercrafts thank you for your kind words and for the compliment. I am not used to getting those. I believe that if we just choose to see discarded or things that has gone out of style in new ways we can save a lot of money, resources and creativity also helps so that the soul feels happy. I wish I know and could afford a camera capable of filming. Then I could show you some of the things I have repurposed. (Ranging from eggshells to shower shelf’s (various types) to car garbage bins etc etc. now I’m fiddling with a lot of old style metal boxes (used for cookies etc). I’m trying to make something that will have multiple uses, as a shelf, display of some of the gorgeous ones, with a hidden but easily accessed storage, that can be modulated as one wants incl. extended, special shapes, smaller etc and If it works out it will be very cool. 😬😬 I have a lot of those and many are very beautiful, it would be a sun to hide them in a cabinet. And I need some inventive space making since current solution with a small plate cabinet is far from good. May I ask if you record some videos in advance so you have in case you can’t make a live recording And may I also ask what you are using to record with? If you want I can give you some of the ideas I have. Or if you say what you would like to have and what you have at hand. I’ll find a unique way that you can create it in so you can show of that impressive talent of yours. (I have a ton of ideas always but not always a means, use, or possibility to use them. And it would just be a like a bouncing board for ideas triggering your inner divine creativity. I have no doubt you will get ideas and I know you will make it into something stunning in your unique way.)❤️

Great idea to share how you categorize & store your inks. I do have 1 side with the color, but I have to keep mine in alphabetical order. (I'm usually finding them by name.😁) And, awesome ink pad shelves! Side-by-side, staggered, vertical, super cool! Thanks for sharing.

Hello Shelly! It's a pleasure to meet you! Alpha order is another great way to organize your ink pads. I find that method also helps you to learn all of the colour names well, which is useful for crafters to get to know their products. I'm pretty good now with naming my ink pads just looking at the colours just from using them so often. Have a great day, Shelly!

What glue did you use from the jar to adhere the shelving dividers?
@sharonwalkercrafts
@sharonwalkercrafts Год назад
Hello Kendra, I actually didn’t glue the shelves together because I wanted to have the freedom to change the height if I wanted. If I did glue them together, I would use Krazy Glue or Gorilla Glue.

Can you pick this unit up and move it safely?
@sharonwalkercrafts
@sharonwalkercrafts 2 года назад
Hi Janet! While I can’t just lift the storage off my table desk quickly and move it to another table, I can lift it up very carefully and slowly move it from one place to another. I know that some crafters have used crazy glue to glue everything together so that they can easily move the storage system around. I just pull mine back and forth on my crafting counter hence why I placed the felt pads on the bottom. The only disadvantage to gluing everything together is that if you ever change your mind and have to dismantle the height or width of the storage system you can’t. Happy crafting, Janet!!
