This is the third episode of our new Labrador Retriever training series. Over the course of the next few months we will be covering a wide range of topics including dog training methodology, terminology, and best practices.
Our goal is to provide insight into various puppy training strategies and techniques, highlighting what we consider to be the most fun and efficacious approaches to reaching the short and long range goals of retriever trainers; whether training is taking place in the field or in the suburbs!
I hope you guys enjoy!

Are you a fan of my training style, but can’t travel to Kentucky to see me in person? No worries! I offer an awesome online dog training course, which includes access to an array of exclusive videos and content, personalized coaching, journaling, and in-depth mentoring and evaluation by yours truly! Just need some an advice or have a couple questions you need answered? I also offer professional consulting by the hour. Both of these great services can be found here: kentuckycanine.com/onlinecoaching. Thank you all for your remarkable support over the years! I cannot express enough how grateful I am for your appreciation and patronage of this channel, my training style, and my kennel. Always remember, it’s a great day for a puppy-sized adventure! ⁃Stonnie Dennis, Dog Trainer

Congratulations, I am an old man raised 4 kids, and lots of dogs, you have one of best training method that I have seen. Dog training for one or two dog families is more showing then training, same as for children

Little Charlotte and Georges are adorable and so active with you ! Awhhh Mister No Name is always so great ! What a well mannered dog with a perfect shiny coat ! Such a perfect shape too ! He is doing so good when he is retreiving with his energitic attitude: '' Yeah yeah me me me me me ... I can do it ... me me me ! I am ready, I am always ready !!!!'' So funny :-) I laughed all loud when i saw him hesitating between a stick on the ground and the dummie you just thrown him ! Thanks for making super vidoes Stonnie. As always, you are brighting up my day with positivity, humour and interesting dogs to watch running around while learning and perfecting skills. My dog and I are watching you quiet home, after our long walk this morning :-) Keep up your great work Stonnie :-)

What a surprise. Just returned from my training adventure with my two 16 week old labs. Rain or snow with no care of temperature, Ice cold water swims with current, mud, slippery logs and large brush piles have been a daily routine for some time now. Then it is challenge course schooling which began in house at 9 weeks and now is outside with a larger more challenging course outdoors. You and your family have been invaluable to our team here at home. Thanks my friend.

thanks mr Bluegrass, good video appreciate it ,I always learn something , people always tell me they want my life because I’m a stay at home dad And my wife makes good money, but i will return that favor back to you ,I’m sure it’s hard most days , it looks like it’s a fun rewarding way to go,But that tip to go outside and put your Your toes in the mud ,I live in Florida so there’s not much mud. and the fire ants take no prisoners , Maybe I can get back to Kentucky one of the most inviting states I’ve ever been in, and try it ,The more I watch your videos it might make me get my nerve up and get me a dog, thanks

Hey Stonnie, thanks for your great training videos, I'm learning so much. I recently rescued a 2 year old Black lab and have been trying your techniques. The main thing I've learned from you is Patience/Consistancy and Persistance combined with Fairness.

I have a 10 month black field labrarador (or american lab. Here in Finland we call them hunting labrador but it is the same thing) I have been watching your videos from before I got her, and they have helped me a lot. We have done many puppy sized adventure and I get a lot of praise for having such a calm puppy, so thank you. I would really appriciate if you could give some tips on how to train the part where the dog hands the dummy over in your hand. My dog loves retrieving and turns right around when she hears the vistle, but when she gets to me she dances around me for quite a while before handing over the dummy. I try moving backwards, letting her have the dummy, stroking her head, trading it for another dummy (but then she starts spitting the first dummy out on the ground). Any tips on games/exercises would be greatly appriciated. Keep up the good work!

Stonnie, what is your opinion on if and/or when to neuter male labradors. Im stuck on the decision and your videos seem to be the most successful and even keel, I assume you have some insight. Cheers on the awesome vids.

i really need your help!! how do i stop my 6 month old labrador to stop body checking my kids in the backyard! she stopped doing it to my daughter but for some reason full tilt she will bash into my son and he goes flying. she only does this in the back yard, not in the house. do i need to keep her on a leash in the backyard until she can behave?? i take her for walks and play fetch with her to tire her out but for some reason she gets into a sprint an then BAM!!! right into my boy. (he also tries to bite his boot off his feet...) will she grow out of this behavior? i had a lab before but we didnt have kids with her so this is a whole new ball game.

Hey Uncle Stonnie! Love your vids. How do you manage the risk of parvo with your puppies - we're getting our puppy today, and we'd love to do adventure training with our dog, but that's a factor that's been weighing on our minds.
@StonnieDennis
@StonnieDennis 4 года назад
Each year people get more and more worried about parvo, even though the incidence level is going down. It’s like we live in a society completely governed by fear. All I can tell you is that you have to balance training and socialization with risk in whatever way makes you comfortable.

Hey Stonnie, I just got my Belgian Malinois. He's 5 1/2 weeks old. I know that's early, so I'm doing what I can to ensure he is fully socialized. Is 5 1/2 weeks to early to start training him, or should I wait a few weeks before I get serious with his training?
@StonnieDennis
@StonnieDennis 4 года назад
Just love on him, make him feel secure, and let him acclimate and explore for the next few weeks; that's the serious training that he needs right now.
