Labradorite Resin Painting

I am having so much fun with these pieces and seeing how layers of lines really brings depth and texture to a piece along with the black paint mixture I use!

Products used in this piece:
Holographic wrapping paper from Hobby Lobby
Pizza Pan from Dollar Tree
Clear Nail Polish from Dollar Tree
Stonecoat Countertop Epoxy
Stardust Micas Ice Blue, Pearl Blue & Tail Green
Mixture of Floetrol and Black Acrylic paint (about 10 parts Floetrol to paint)

Omg yes!!! Labs are my favorite! And moonstone (although rainbow moonstone is technically a white labradorite) I love the play with dark and colorful :)

Using the alcohol spray on your wet paint will add another texture technique. I cannot wait to try your methods!

Ya when I started that were absolutely no tutorials anywhere so I just tried any and everything. It's been quite the journey but I think I got it down now all these years later lol

I watch a lot of videos (more now that we are all shelter-in-place) but this is one of the best I've seen. You have a fan here. I am curious how did you paint the pizza pan.....did you spray it? I have not painted much metal........

Hey sorry even off youtube for a bit, but yes halfway through I covered the painting with cling on wrap and spray painted the edges, would have been muslch easier if I had just sprayer the whole thing before painting lol

I must have missed something here. When did you lay down your first layer of resin? Is that what caused those cool lines in the wrapping paper? It seems like an important step was missed in your video. Very cool piece and I'd love to try it myself.

It was caused by the nail polish she put down as a glue to hold the paper to the tray.💕

Then only steps I didn't show was putting down clear layers of resin, but it was very much mentioned each time. And I literally painted the first layer of resin in the video ❤

Stunning! Great work. Do you add a layer of resin after each cutting step? Layer of resin at end?

I do! The first layer of resin is the colored resin. Then every layer after that is just a clear coat the seal in the lines that were created that layer

5:00 pro tip: when using a knife don't place your hand in the path of the blade...hold down the plate on the far opposite side so you don't slice your fingers open if/when the knife slips. My poor left thumb has been sliced and diced so many times.

Hi, I love it! But flow trawl can be pretty pricey in at 10 to 1 ratio I won’t be able to afford it is there a different can I add like water and flow trawl and paint or any suggestions you have for making it cheaper?

I'm not sure...I just bought it at hobby lobby in the wrapping paper section idk of that helps.....maybe Celebrate It? That may be a micheals brand though...
